Most toothpaste that promise fast results (like the smokers polish) are full or abrasives that used over long periods of time can be damaging to the enamel of the tooth. Always make sure they are approved by the ADA.

Baking soda when used daily is very rough on your tissue and extended use can lead to tissue damage and recession.

The method I've found to be best (and the one I use) is bleaching trays with "Day White" "Nite White" or some similar gel, usually at a 12% or 16% solution depending on your shade and sensitivity level. Your Dentist takes impressions of your teeth and makes models, then fabricates trays from the models that fit your teeth. Next a shade is taken, some photos and your shown a video, or given a demonstration of what to expect and how to use the solution. Then you do this at home for an hour a day for a few weeks until you reach your whitest shade. The doctor checks you every week and monitors your shade level and corrects or answers all questions. Most patients agree that they prefer this method over all others mainly because it allows them to touch up every few months if they notice staining from excessive coffee, tea, red wines and foods.

Hope I've been of some help, talk to your dental office they can advise you the systems they offer and demonstrate all of them so that you can make a wise decision in your dental health. Good luck!

Crest Whitening strips work really well. They are the cheapest way. To go to the dentist costs a bomb. These are the only things I have used that actually work, its great! They started to hurt my teeth when I left em on too long tho, especially the bottom ones, but my teeth were already white by then. People noticed the difference, I recommend them to everyone! I think other brands do them too, but crest are the only ones I've used. *Add - I've used a whitening pen before, and it was absolutely no use!* Good luck!

The Laser whitening is very good but costs about $400.00. It will last up to a year. You also have to consider the habbits you have such as if you smoke or drink tea or coffee, those are things that may stain your teeth and your whitening won't last as long.
