piercings arent self mutilation.. they are an aesthetic to me. and many other people.. thats why people get ehtm. not cause they're self mutilating themselves. lololol

You silly girl. You've been talking about this for a week! I know you're excited!
It's really not too bad. When you go in, tell them you're nervous. Your piercer will do everything he or she can to put your mind at ease. Take slow deep breathes, and try to find a happy place. It does hurt, but you've had some other piercings before. It's no worse, and i'm sure you remember being nervous about those piercings too. It just takes a little longer than most piercings. By a little, I mean a few seconds. and afterwards, just sit up slowly and tell them you almost passed out after your navel. Trust me, they don't want you to pass out.
also, try to remember there are people in that same shop at the same moment taking their pants and shirts off for piercings. it sort of centers me, despite the fact that i've done both.
I would recommend getting it on the side you do not sleep on. Mine was sore for about a month. Not like horrible pain, just i didn't really want to lay on it.
This is my favorite piercing. Trust me, you will fall in love with it immediately. It's beautiful, subtle, and uncommon.

Try and do something with your friends before you go, so you're not dwelling on it all day. Then before you go in eat/drink something sugary. Also tell the person who's doing it that you're nervous and ask them to take their time and talk you through it.& If you can get your friends to come in with you and talk to you while you're getting it done.
Don't worry about passing out, I passed out when I got the inner part of my ear pierced and it was because I was soo nervous! It wasn't embarassing at all, the woman just seemed concerned. Also try and get a good nights sleep the night before and make sure you eat something to get your energy levels up.
Also try shaking your hands from your wrists, sounds weird, but it does have a calming effect!!
Don't Worry&Good Luck!!

For me it helps to know what they will be doing and have them talk to me. If I'm not thinking about when will it happen, how will it feel, what will happen then I'm fine. Take some deep breaths, drink water, take your time after getting the piercing before moving. I got light headed after getting my nose pierced so I had to stay there for a minute to calm down. Be confident, if you want to get it it will be worth it. Don't drink, it thins your blood and will make you bleed more. The guy above me suggested music, that's a really good idea! Take your mind off of it as long as possible. You can do it!

Pain is temporary, beauty is forever!
I don't really know if there is a foolproof method to calm yourself down because stress is your body's natural response to an anticipated event. Do your best to tell yourself that you've been through this before and that there's nothing to worry about. Surround yourself with positive things and just take deep breaths. It will only hurt for a tiny bit, and then it will be over. Good luck and have fun!

I have both of my rooks done, along with about 13 other ear things. It's a piercing, of course it will hurt, but it's quick and temporary. if you're really this nervous about it, maybe you should consider waiting a bit more time or something. the thing is, the rook is one of the easier and less painful things to get pierced. I know the guy I go to is really talkative and gets on random tangents (last time it was farm animals) but this takes your mind off of the fact that you're getting ready to have a needle shoved through your ear.

i'm not going to lie, when i got my rook done it was pretty much the worst pain i've ever felt. it was soo much worse than all of my other piercings put together. sorry!!
now that i've scared you efficiently, it only hurts for a second and it's totally worth it. also, everyone feels pain in different places differently. for you, it could be nothing.
have some advil before you go and make sure you've had sugary food or drinks beforehand so you don't pass out.

Just relax, listen to music on the way over. Think about how cool it'll be when it's done. Remind yourself that the pain is temporary. Maybe even bring a friend, for support!
Good luck!

First take a very deep breathe and close your eyes in a dark room. You'll then want to focus on something calming like the ocean. Try to think if the sound of the ocean, the feeling of the sand in your feet, and something that relates to each of the senses. Then you want to repeat "one, one, one, one, one, one..." over and over. This shuts off the left side of the brain which we use for logic and basically stress. Repeating one gives it nothing to make sense of which is when the right side, your creative side, comes into play. I hope this helps!!

Boy are you nervous! Don't worry so much. Just forget about it. Go have it done and just sit for a few minutes before you get up.
