Remember the young teens that use to volunteer in hospitals?

I was a teen hospital volunteer in the 1980's, and continued volunteering with different programs ever since. I recall around the mid-1980's, the term "candy stripers" was starting to get replaced in my hospital with the term "Jr. Volunteer." Programs still exist at many hospitals for teen volunteers during the summer, and continuing programs for the weekends and holidays through hospital volunteer offices or Community Relations offices.
I'm still affiliated with some hospital volunteer programs, but I've branched out to other community programs lately. I lead various teen volunteer programs these days. In my local community, the local hospitals still have weekend programs for teens to volunteer in specific departments. One of the teens that I work with also has a volunteer job in the Pharmacy Department of one of our local hospitals.
I think the programs are still in place. Maybe the program name has changed throughout the years, but the teens that volunteer are still around, and are still providing service to our local community hospitals.
Check your local hospital web site. Most of them have links to the volunteer programs or have contact information to the Volunteer Directors.

i was one, i suppose they figured there was too much chance of one doing something wrong and getting sued for what she did.
