My son is 25 and my daughter is 22. They have lived with their grandmother for several years. My son has a 6 mo. old baby he cares for by himself and has a good job with the School District. My daughter goes to school full time and works a little more than a part time job as a waitress. She loves animals and has 2 small full breed dogs that have been inside the entire time. They are well behaved and cared for. My son just bought a new house in which his grandmother put down approx. $ 30,000 on a $ 400,000 house, but in my sons name. The dispute is he won't allow any dogs to be in the new house, which I can understand , but nights have been down in the 20's for which the small dogs wouldn't survive. She won't get rid of her dogs (which I also understand), but something has to give. I suggested to put down plastic and then put new carpet over that to protect the original carpet, and leave them confined to the bedroom which they were before. Anybody have some other suggestions ?

why don't you pony up the bill and buy your daughter a dog house for her 2 dogs. If she don't agree to that you can rent her another place to live...respect your son...

I would suggest that your sister purchase two large size doggie crates .. and she can put their doggie beds in the crate (where she can leave them overnight).

Then ... when she wakes up, she can carry the dogs from the crates to their walk ... exercise, whatever.

I can see your son's point in all this -- after all, a 6 month old baby is beginning to roll over, starting to work their way up to crawling, then will be walking, they are reaching and grabbing and putting things in their mouth. I am sure he is scared for the baby and what the baby will be putting in the mouth .. and not wanting his baby sick is a good thing in a parent.

So I would suggest to your daughter that she compromise ... and yes, put her doggies in the larger sized doggie crates when they are not on the run outside or on their walks/exercise. Also, if there is a Utility Room or other non-carpeted area, could she confine the doggies there?

She needs to think about the health of the little one at this time.

I do not consent to any pet being in the house! Unhygenic! She should move if she wants to keep the animals. If she is so busy, when does she give the pets any attention... Confine the dogs to the room?!!! Cruel! Why not give the pets to someone who will actually spend time with them and let them roam freely OUTSIDE with FRESH air! As for the cold, there clearly appears to be an abundance of cash, so build a cosy warm doghouse outside. Plastic on the carpets and then MORE carpets?!! For heavens sake, are you serious? I understand your daughter loves animals, but if you're never there to give them that love, let them go. don't be so selfish. Why people fight with each other over animals is beyond me. I feel sorry for those poor dogs...

I can understand why your son doesnt want any animals in the house but he cant let the little one freeze. What about the doggy cages? it could go in the garage or utilty room.Who's paying for the house payments? Whats the old saying.. The rooster rules the roost.I wonder of the dogs made a mess in the other house and that is the reason he doent want them in the house.

read thru these ideas.. 1. fight a non nuclear war and resolve the dispute once and for all. 2. if force is not used the LOC wil remain as it is.. neither of the sides will accept forefieting even a piece of land.. in such a case i hav this intersting idea.. 1. forget the past hatred, war etc.. 2. make loc the official border 3. make it a free border, allowing the whole kashmir (J&K,PoK) to exist as a single unit, but with a restriction for pakis to cross beyond J&k and for indians to move beyond Pok, without visas.. 4. thus both countries can enjoy full of kashmir, which can lead to immense growth of trade and economy of the region and the country 5. but for this v need to hav immense faith on each other... which i believe is a long time away !

for crying out loud, they are your children.as long as i am concerned, there is no love among them.they are of the same blood and should be able to carry themselves along.unless your son dont like seeing dog,i mean he hate dogs with passion, then no point taking dogs to that house.the other hand ,this is what your daughter can't do without.meaning that both of them cant stay together in the same house unless on a visit.but mom, first of all bring peace among them.make sure that they love themselves.goodluck

If a dog has been used to the inside you can't put them out now. If they have been clean and no problem before I don't see what his problem is. Is there not a small utility room they could be in?

if the son is going to be making the payments. his wishes should be honored. Dog smell can ruin the value of a house. The sister needs to find another place to keep her pets. Maybe in the garage
or a friends place.

she can take them to a kennel for the cold winter nights if she is that worried or maybe have a friend of hers watch them on those nights that doesnt mind them inside ..... or build them a dog house that is insulated ... if she wants them she will have to figure something out .... your son has made the rule and it is his house ... she can always move out also

I'll settle this. You TELL your son that those dogs are his sister's children and he wouldn't put them out in the cold, would he?
