Do exercises like squats and lunges that use a whole muscle group burn carbs or fat? This is while you're doing them, not afterwards.

the squat is probably the single best resistance training exercise.

high intensity exercise relies ATP and glycolysis for energy. this causes a greater response from the endocrine system increasing the levels of anabolic and fat burning hormones.

I dont know I do tons of squats. I like them. They will make your quads huge.......most women like that..........hmmm you dont want that you are female haha. If you are looking for exercises to tone you up try leg curls and leg extension for toning and if you want to burn excess calories your gonna have to do some aerobics to keep your metabolism high. One more thing on squats and lunges make your hips bigger to and most women dont want that. Hope this helps peace out......................
