Hey man I am in the ARMY ROTC at the university of Dayton. Upon graduation you will receive your second Lt. commission. The difference between a commissioned and Non-Com is that as a commissioned you will be pledging to the president, as a Non Com you are pledging a oath to the Country, but not the president. You are not able to alter your rank either higher or lower depending on how well you do. Good luck

After going through ROTC or OTS in the Air Force, you would receive the rank of Second Lieutenant, the lowest commissioned officer rank in the Air Force.

The difference between a commissioned officer and a non-commissioned officer is that an NCO is an enlisted rank (versus an officer rank like 2nd LT), meaning you don't have to go through ROTC or OTS (or a service academy) to get there.

Okay...just basic Graduation is a commission at the 2 Lt level...a "butter bar."

The only people as officers that receive any kind of special promotion past 2 Lt in any of the services that i know of is medical. Lets say a 15 year heart surgeon wants to join the air Force medical system. It quite possible that he can be commissioned as a captain or a major (Based on the profession, to give him/her a salary commensurate with the ability). They can do this because technically they are not Command or line officers at that stage.

the only other way around this system is the national guard. that's another whole can of worms all together.

You would come out comissioned as a Second Lieutenant. A Staff sergeant would be e-6 and an enlisted rank so you wouldnt start out as that.

think of of the full guy or woman theory. that's necessary have a reliable GPA yet there are different issues they look at too. Being an athlete shows you could multitask and get issues achieved even although you're busy. in case you have management roles or volunteer/community provider paintings that is very advantageous besides. I say placed a packet jointly, you do not until you attempt. Be constructive. my .02

you would reach the proud rank of 2nd LT i don't know about the air force but in the army you'd be every officer's ***** for about 2 years, and no you would never be an NCO and if you ask me join the enlisted ranks first then decide if you wanna be an officer
