The Gideons have the Bible placed in hotel rooms in the hopes that guests will feel free to take them. The hotels have more Bibles to replace the ones that are taken. In other words, taking something you are encouraged to take is NOT stealing!

You are not sinful if on the Gideon Bible are some words printed "You can take it freely".But if those words are not printed you steal the Bible and stealing anything is sinful because it is prohibited by Allah the only one God.You must ask for permission
to the hotel manager .I think he will give you freely and you are not sinful.

Stealing is a sin. but wait, is stealing a bible a sin? whats the purpose for the steal? i would consider stealing a sin under only one circumstance............... to benefit yourself materially. but to benefit yourself spiritually i wouldnt consider it a sin. I believe Jesus would want you to have that Bible. Thats how you landed in the hotel in the first place anyway.
Just like in the bible its a sin to kill someone but in the old testament, those who worshipped the idols were smitten by the messengers of God. which meant that the smitting wasnt a sin although there was actual murder of men.
Keep the bible and spread the word to lost people like me!!!

The Gideons expect people to take the bibles away to read. They give hotels replacements free of charge for just this reason.

If they expect you to take it, how can it be stealing?

They want you to read what they believe is the world of God.

So it is not a sin, as it is not stolen.

No; the word of God cannot be stolen; only given; that is why the Gideons left the Bible there for you. The next person that uses the room however won't have the words for their strength...that should be considered. Perhaps when you are finished reading it, you could return it. thta is probably what Jesus would do, or even Willie Nelson.

Yes, because stealing is a sin, but then you might need the Bible to tell you that, but still, why steal the Bible? I am not sure though, but I think the Bibles might be free for people to use/read/take. That might be the reason they leave them there, so people who need/want them can have them.

Everyone is a thief in one way or another. I think stealing another persons dignity, self respect, judging, or creating emotional pain in their lives is far worse than stealing a Bible. If you stole a book that I wrote I would feel honored. God is laughing - he does have a sense of humour.

well, it is a sin to steal. why not get a Bible elsewhere? Bibles are some of the best-selling books in the world, aren't they?
