First off, the Term "pit bull" is not a breed but a group of three separate breeds bred for the same purpose. The American Staffordshire Terrier, The American Pit Bull Terrier, and The Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Second the color patter you are referring to is known as Brindle

A tiger striped pitbull is more than likely an American Pitbull Terrier and of the "brindle" color..

"pitbull" is not a breed. Most dogs called pitbulls are either staffordshire terriers or Bull Terriers. The color pattern you describe is called brindle

The brindle pattern is common to the AKC American Staffordshire Terrier and the UKC American Pit Bull Terrier.

That color variation is called "Brindle". My Agility girl is a Brindle pit type dog. I call her my little Stripey girl.

BRINDLE is just a color pattern-allowable in SEVERAL breeds from DANES to CAIRNS.
Has NOTHING to do w/what "breed" some MUTT is.
