I broke the original driver disc that came with my laptop, and I've tried every driver I could find, off of driverguide, ati's website, tried the omega drivers, but no matter what, Everytime I play a game, the graphics will stop working, and I get strange lines on my screen. I'm a PC tech, so I know what I'm doing, but if anyone has a similar problem, and found drivers, or may have a disc, it would be great. My laptop is an Asus Z80K, and I've tried their drivers too.

I am in fact A PC Tech, and as for drivers, it is the drivers from asus's website, so I know there good, just I get like, colored lines that appear on anykind of moving window, and when playing games, there is black I guess you could say, graphic lines everywhere. I can change my resolution and color, just I get the lines no matter what. I know for a fact it's the drivers, for in linux, the card works flawlessly. It's a mobility radeon 9700 (128mb), and the laptop is an Asus Z80K. i've upgraded my bios, and then reinstalled drivers, but to no avail.. it's runing XP sp2, and ubuntu. I've tried with just clean XP, but no luck.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know, but I assume you've tried to download from Asus support site? Maybe they could let you download the disk iso you broke.

Good luck. That's a tough one.

Well Mr. Computer Tech........I got to have more information than that. How does the graphic look within windows? When you go to display setting does it show 16bit or 24bit or 32bit? And will it change to any other Screen Resolition? Not to be mean but, people say they are computer techs and stuff and still don't know about this stuff. Also go to system and go to display drivers what does it say? Unknown? If it does say Ati Radeon 9700 on there than it's not the drivers it the video card which of course would suck because it's a notebook. Well give a little more information and ya might get a little bit better answer.....Sorry for sounding so mean just need more information.OH yeah put everything about the video card too. Model # even the year if you can find. Everything about the labtop windows version, year model, Serial etc......

as a computer tech, you realize you need a faster graphics card and more dedicated video memory to play video games. Likewise, you need greater sound driver capacity than you can buy on a laptop.
