Many don't like Christians for who they follow. Many don't like others because of jealous and other reasons. I have not been liked by many, but that doesn't bother me at all. God knows me, that's what matters most of all.
People sense that God is real when they are sinners not saved by grace. They know He is real upon hearing their name being called to come unto Him.
Once we become a Christian we see how much hatred there really is. Not just among the non believers, but even in fellow Christians. You have those that believe they are more righteous then the other.
Not sure what you are really seeking here in an answer.
It was from those who hated me, disliked me, that helped me realize I'm important as the next person. I know since I have come to have Jesus residing in me, many have shown their hatred towards me as a Christian not a person.
All they are doing by this is being a part of what the Word tells us. They are bringing the prediction that was prophesied to come to pass.
Its not what man can do to us. They can kill us physically, but they can't kill our spirit nor take our souls. We don't fear what man can do!!!

Yes, the bible says if we were of the world, the world would love us, but since we are not, the world does not love us. Jesus said, if they hate you, they hated me first. I think it's important to differentiate however, between being hated just because we are Christians with being hated if we are obnoxious and arrogant and cause people to dislike us for those reasons. The bible says the cross is an offense to those who are perishing. So, yes, the message of the gospel can be an offense. Let's just try not to be "offenSIVE", if you know what I mean.
Actually I feel I have alot more to offer now...since I have God's wisdom; I've been studying his word for ten years. You have no idea how many people are desperate for wisdom. And His, of course, is perfect. There are so many life experiences that the bible speaks to. Everything, in fact.

I was an atheist 28 years. I was chosen out of the world. Yes, He chose me.
When I was a mere "sinner" as you say, I was a severe drug addict and dealer, sex addict, alcoholic.
Now 100% free of all, and live to do good! But apparently, some still think Christianity is a horrible thing. Not in my experience!

I am still a mere sinner. I have only been made righteous though Jesus. I have lost alt of friends due to my faith and have been alienated at work at times. It is not that bad here in The States but you don't have to travel far to be persecuted for Christ. It is getting closer and closer to home thanks to the ACLU.
