I'm very interested in knowing what it means when they want to press their head into yours; What it means when they rub their saliva glands on your hand; and other physical means of communication - what's positive and/or negative.

All of those you mentioned seem to be good, means your cat is appreciating you and really bonding with you. Usually give them a nice scratch under the mouth or behind the ears for this. Great communications.

when they rub their scent on you it is a way of marking you as theirs. it is an honour really.

play with your cat, and you will learn much about how they communicate, also watch their tails and ears. Ears and tails up is a sign of greetings. Ears flattened and they are getting ready to fight.
