HI Jennifer...this sounds more like a superstitious behaviour. Some cats will develop a ritual of doing things a certain way solely on a reaction or pattern which was positive and therefore repeat this behaviour repeatedly. Hope this makes sense.

On the physical/medical aspect there may be something irritating his paws so be sure to check the bottom of his feet and anything you use on the floors that may be irritating to the pads of his feet. Even sand from litter box can be bothersome for some cats.

He may not like the texture of your floor. I've had cats to jump from furniture to tables to keep from touching the floor. Does your cat shake all 4 legs? Could be the products you use to clean. How old is your cat? How long have you had him? If he's shaking his hind legs only, he could be spraying and marking his territory. Even when they are neutered they will sometimes still shake like they are spraying. Now if he is wobbling and his legs seem weak, please have a vet check him out.Good luck to you and your cat.
