The girls are developmentally on track and have been using the potty chairs on-and-off for a couple of months now. They can tell us when they need to go, but now that we've actually started being consistent with sitting them down every hour, they don't go. Then they will go five minutes later in their pants. We've just started being more regimented in our routine this weekend, so is this normal? Any other tips? Thanks!

Oh,yes. Peeks and valleys. Just when you think your about done, you hit A fall back. Don't rush potty training. If you try to force it before they are ready. You will prolong the entire program. It works better to use A reward. Try stickers or A little piece of sugarless candy for A job well done.NEVER EVER punish for an accident! The potential for lasting psychological damage is quite high.Try to be very careful not to humiliate them or compare. I know it is easier said than done, but patience is your best friend.PS buy stock in pampers.

With my daughter I had the same problem, I tried the whole routine thing, but then I just gave up, it became so tiring and stressful, so I left a potty in the room that she was in most often and let her go when she needed to. I also had a potty in the bathroom and showed her where to empty it so that she would learn where it goes. As she used the potty more often I gradually moved it closer to the bathroom, then once she was comfortable with finding it I left it there. It took a little while, but I noticed once I let her relax a little with the idea she potty trained herself quite quickly. Let them have accidents it's all part of the process, let them explore the potty, and when they do have an accident take their pants off and sit them on the potty and explain that is where it's supposed to go. The only way they can leanr is with a little relaxation in the rules, remember there is no rule that says children must be potty trained at the age of two, there will be relapses and accidents, just go with the flow and use lots of postive reinforcement, like singing a song with them when they go by themselves. Good Luck.

3 girls x 5 diapers a day x 30 days a month = 450 diapers a month x 18 cents a diaper = $81 a month just on diapers! Yowser! I can feel your pain. Though in bulk you may be able to do better than 18 cents per.

At least it is not 3 boys. My son is 4 and is still fighting us on #2 and that interferes with success on #1 though he is getting better on this.

Our pediatrician says that there are many factors that go into successful potty training. The fact that you have them actually using the potty chairs is a big success.

The fact that they go 5 minutes after leaving the chair suggests that they feel tense while waiting on the chair and do not relax until they get up. I recommend that you have them get up for a minute to stretch and sit them down again.

More importantly monitor your own stress levels at this time. I mean this, look in the mirror in the bathroom. Do you look calm cool and collected or do you look like you are figuring out the million dollar question for Regis? We are all sometimes guilty of wanting something from our kids so badly that it freaks them out a little.

But, despite how tough it is, try to be realistic, 24 months is early, very early, 30 months is still early. Some kids take longer. Especially boys, which is why I said you were lucky.

Keep your pediatrician in the loop as I am not a doctor (Though I have played one on the stage) and you might want to check wikipedia.

Oh, don't freak out about this, but if one seems to lose control of peeing and bowel movements and has lapses in concentration that seem to cause this, its doctor time. Petit mal seizures where the brain sort of takes a time out, can cause a release of both urine and bowels. This is extremely unlikely. But I mention this because many, many other parents might read this question and one of them might notice their child "blanking out" and having wet pants right after.

Yikes. I can't imagine potty training triplets :) Good Luck to you on that!
I DID potty train my 2 oldest boys at the same time though.
The J is 13m older than T. Give the girls time. Be patient and take them when they TELL you they need to go. Eventually one of them WILL get it and when she does, Ill bet the other 2 will follow suit. When J potty trained he was nearly 3...As soon as he started going T did, too. And..once our youngest boy Z realized that his brothers were going potty on the potty he potty trained HIMSELF when he was 18m old!
Good Luck and dont get frustrated. It can take awhile for a child to potty train. Its also quite common and perfectly normal for a child not to potty train until 3 or even 4!

Each child is an individual just because they are triplets doesn't mean they are going to be ready at the same time. Potty training comes with the readiness of each child at their own paste. Watch for signs from each of them as individuals not as triplets. Try as soon as they wake up generally it's the best time becauseyou know they really need to pee and maybe try one child at a time they may be more interested as having one on one time. Anyhow good luck :)

Yes, you can train them at this age. I have 3 children and all were trained at about age 2. I'm sure with triplets it gets pretty spendy for diapers.
My secret was , praise, praise and more praise when they did there deal on the pot. Clapping my hands, jumping up and down, they loved it. My one boy when he first sat there on the pot, kinda acting like, ya,well, whats this all about, I poured a cup of warm water between his legs and that did it, he peed and I made a big deal of it. He acted so proud and that was it, he headed for the pot even , I think, before he had to go, just to get the praise. With the girls, I went and got them some real cute underpants and tried to tell them, don't go potty in them. As young as they were they seemed to understand and not want to get the underpants wet. Does not take to very long to do it, patience, kinda training yourself to remind them, lots of praise and they will be potty trained in no time.
With triplets they may have a tendency to see one get praised and they will all want the praise, might work to your advantage.
Happy potty training.

Many people love the idea of owning a dog but one thing that they have to keep in mind often times, is that the dog needs to be trained. While the pet may look heart-breakingly cute when it's in a shelter or at the pound, picking out the dog is only the first part of the relationship between dog owner and the animal. Many people don't understand that they have to put time and effort into socializing the dog.

An unsocialized dog will intimidate others, tear up the home, and will create an environment that can become so bad that the it will have to be returned. Many times when dogs have to be returned to shelters or to other resources, it will end up euthanized, which is very heartbreaking. All of this can be spared if a person learns the various techniques in order to socialize the dog.

One thing that they have to understand is that the he wants to be told what to do. It's in the canine nature to follow a leader. The dog will be more than willing to obey the leadership of its master. Here's a look at some common techniques that are used in dog training:

"Dog Whispering"

This is a technique that has been around for a while, but gained national notoriety over the last 10 years. Some people might hear this term and wonder how in the world whispering to a dog can train it! Whispering isn't meant to be taken literally in this case. As trainers have shown, whispering is a term that refers to connecting with a being or an entity on a very deep and almost spiritual level. When it comes to dog training techniques, dog whispering involves careful observation of the dog's behavior and actions.

It literally entails getting inside the mind and the behavior system of the canine. When a person uses dog whispering techniques, they interact with the dog on the canine level. Again, one the most common mistakes that people make is treating the dog like a small human being.

"Reward Training"

Reward training is very simple and it's one of the older tricks that works. This is a simple method of training the dog by positive reinforcement. Once he does what it is told to do, it receives a treat. How this works is that the dog owner must entice the dog towards the treat. Once the canine develops awareness for the treat, it develops a strong desire for it. When the desire for it is extremely strong, the dog owner pulls back. Then the dog receives a command and when the dog obeys the command, it receives the treat. The object is to make the dog associate a treat with the command.

"Clicker Training"

Other dog training techniques include one that is similar to reward training, which is called clicker training. How this works is that the clicker is incorporated to get the dog's attention. The clicker is clicked as a form of communication with the dog. It learns that there is a command or reward associated in conjunction with the clicker. Many people claim that this is fun, and they actually make a game with the dog by using the clicker for their dog training tasks.

"Ultrasonic Whistle"

Last, a relatively new form of dog training technique is called the ultrasonic whistle. This works because the ultrasonic sound is only heard by the dog. When the owner is trying to communicate a command, or stop the dog from barking, they will blow on their whistle when they want to communicate a command to the dog. The benefit of this is that the humans can't hear this noise, but the dog can hear it, and they will learn to associate the sound with a command.

Dog training techniques aren't hard to incorporate, but they are something that absolutely must be incorporated from the time a dog owner brings their new dog home. No matter how old or how young the dog is, they will need training. Once they are trained properly, they will be a wonderful addition to one's family.

I know how it can be tough and time consuming to train a dog. With patience and consistency you will be able to put an end to all your dog's "problems" but you need to do it the right way. The owner of the dog needs to know how to "operate" the dog, same way you can get into a car that's in perfect running order but if you don't know how to drive you won't have much luck making the car go anywhere. If the owner doesn't know how to maintain the training, the dog will soon become untrained again. Read more here https://tinyurl.im/qSAU1

People seem to think that once a dog is trained, that's it. Not true. You must reinforce the dog's training every single day in some way. It's best if the owner and the dog go together to get trained. As a professional trainer once said to me "We can train any dog in 2 days. It takes longer to train the owners

they are only 2 even if they know that what the potty is and that they have to go their minds aren't developed enough to know that they have to go sit on the potty. Two year olds don't have the ability to stop themselves from doing things like when they are playing they keep playing even if they have to go, it is impulse. I learned this at my daughters coop preschool from the parent educator. Wait till they are 3 and try again. It is hard to potty train at two.
