I've tried lotions and tattoo goo, nothing seems to work. Is this normal or is this bad?

Itching means healing. So that is good. Try not to scratch it. When mine were real itchy I would put a hot wet wash cloth on them. It's pretty soothing to the itch.

Don't panic! The itchiness is a good sign of healing- skin on your foot /ankle will always take longer to heal than say, a tattoo on your arm. The skin is thinner there, more delicate and has less fat underneath it to 'cushion' the needle when you are being inked. I wouldn't worry about being allergic to the ink just yet. Give it a week or so more, keep wearing flipflops [make sure no part of the shoe rubs against your design if possible] and apply anibacterial lotion until your scab falls away.

It's the healing process. Your socks could be rubbing and making the tattoo goo pointless. Try being bare foot whenever you can be and cover your tattoo with clear wrap and sports tape to hold it down over the goo when you have to wear socks. That should keep the moisture over the skin to prevent itchy rubbing. Don't leave it on too long ... don't know what might happen then but it doesn't seem good. It should heal up just fine in a couple months.

It is perfectly normal - all of my tatts have itched for a week or two after I got them.

Just be careful that an infection is not forming - keep using the cream.

One thing that I used to do to help them heal up faster was go for a 15 minute swim at the beach. Just be very very careful NOT to get the area sunburnt as this can cause NASTY reactions with the ink.... CHeck out Tony Cohen's book - there is a pic in there of a rose where the red in the rose reacted to sunlight.. BE VERY CAREFUL!

What was your tattoo of?? interesting getting one on your foot..

Itching = healing. A tattoo is really a flesh wound and the hemerroid cream they give you is to help stop the bleeding and stop the scabs from cracking your skin. It should be o.k. in another week if you keep putting the ointment on it. Try putting the goo in the fridge then put it on cold, that should help the itching.

DON'T ITCH IT! I have many and one on my foot and the one on my foot itched quite a bit. Just keep moisturizing (sp?) it and maybe put a bandaide over it when you go out. I ALWAYS use Carmex and my five year old tattoo still looks new and very colorful. Good Luck
PS the one on my foot peeled off a little because I wore flip flops before it completely healed.... so beware of that as well.

Oh yeah, the healing process! Whatever you do, don't scratch it. If it's absolutely unbearable, try to lightly rub it. Curel Ultra Healing lotion, as well as Vaseline Intensive Care are both good. You can also call the place you got it done and see what they recommend. Have fun!

That itching and flaking is totally normal. I think most tatts are on "thicker" skin parts of the body and those areas would obviously itch less than the thin skin on your foot! (but a tat on my buttock did itch for a couple of weeks)

Itching is normal. It means that it's healing. Keep using that TattooGoo and it will be healed completely in no time.
Hope this helps and good luck!

P.S. It looks very nice

completely normal, it's just healing. Make sure you dont scratch it though or you could lose ink. Try using glaxol base. It's pure moisture and lots of tattoo places recommend it. You can buy it at any drug store, or walmart..
