Yeah, it works really good--you'll need to sign up with a voip provider, though. I've got voip.com and looooove it.

I make calls from my computer to other numbers, from my regular phone (that's plugged into the voip adapter they sent out when I signed up), and from other computers using my iPod (it's a shuffle).

The cool part about that is I stuck my voip.com SoftPhone on my iPod and now, if I plug my iPod into another computer's USB port, I can use my voip.com SoftPhone program the same as if I was at home. Plus, nothing gets downloaded on the other computer, so no worries there. You just want to make sure that your broadband connection is fast and consistent.

There VOIP software out there that do that. Probably the most famous is skype which allows pc to phone calls with a price though. A free alternative that does the same but limits the call time is VOIP Stunt. Just google them to get links.

You bet you can....tons of suppliers to do this....e.g. Skype is the biggest and sadly just ending on Dec 31 (just 2 weeks back) they were giving away free PC to telephone calls anywhere in Canada and U.S. It was awesome..could call for hours and hours for FREE but now it is over and its back to cost...but its really cheap...

Anyway tons of providers that do this...in the hundreds

You can... but you need some stuff like a microphone (the kind for computers) and a program that lets you talk from PC to phone. Now, dont ask me what microphone it is, all i know is that a friend of mine has that!

Yes. Try SKYPE. It's amazing.
I used it for months last year. It was free, but too bad that ended.
But now, by January 31, you can make calls to ANYONE from your computer with unlimited minutes for only $15 for the whole freakin' year!!! I couldn't let that offer go.
I bought a headset too for it. I LOVE SKYPE! I highly recommend it. : }
