This Department is very very very small as is the town, I am inclined to atleast take a look.

Check into it further, and if you feel that law enforcement would make a good career for yourself, then you might want to give it a try. Just bear in mind that it is a job that isn't a walk in the park. You are putting yourself in dangerous situations that the normal person can walk away from...as a cop, you can't. Good luck.

I would think you SHOULD take the job but if you do, please do not take advantage of your friendship with him.
I know that this sounds silly but many friendships have been murdered when one friend did not like the way the higher ranking friend acted on the job.
Don't ask the friend for any special favors or call him by his first name on duty (if it is not what the others' do etc)
I would probably go to the town and have a look
It could be a great opportunity for you to put something new on your resume and maybe with the experience YOU could become a chief in yoru own small town

Is this your first police job? If it is and your looking to start a career in LE, then this is a good place to start. You will get some street experience and go to an academy. If you want to move on to another department offering better pay, benefits, and career opportunities you will be a more attractive candidate due to your experience and training.

if you think you meet the requirements then take it but you should also consider the thing of "utang na loob". If you can't say "no" in the future even knowing that the same will be against your conscience...DON"T TAKE IT.
