I am American. I am proud to be one. I am not a n i g g e r in response to previous answer. Violence and crime exist all over the world. So don't try to say only America has impoverished neighbourhoods. Many places around the world have impoverished areas. Crime and violence are products of these things. Have any one of you ever been to America? I am mean really been to America? Not just major cities but really went traveling through our country? Do you know the history of our country and how our laws work and how they are decided? We have a democracy and yes I voted and hey didn't get the guy I wanted for the presidency but hey s**t happens others voted for him and the majority won.
I think we have a great country considering how long its been around. Our country broke off from Britian and become it's own country with the writing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Our country is still very young compaired to many of the European countries and we have accomplished a lot. We are great allies. If any country we are in alligiance with needs our help we are there just like we were in the past aiding and helping. I am not going to say that my country is the best or the most wonderful. Becuase hey it's not. As a matter of fact you know what there isn't a country that's perfect through and through. You all need to stop taking what you read in the papers and see and hear about seriously. We don't think the same of you ( meaning European countries) As a whole yes I will say I do have limited knowledge of Europeans as a whole. I don't have the convenience of France bordering me or Germany being just over the way. I mean really we have two oceans on either side of us not like you can easily backpack across that. I know what I read, I know what I see on tv. It's not my fault your news doesn't reach us. Or that my country is always in the news I have no control over that.
Just remember don't judge a book by it's colourful outside cover but try to read the words inside. The you will get a more clear perception of what that book is about.
You all talk about racism! Are you hypocrites not being predjudice right now?
Don't even try and say England didn't have slaves or buy into the slave trade! Did England not take over Australia and basically act as if it was there's all along. Did the English not control South Africa during the years of Apartheid? Did England not control a good portion of India for period upon periods of time?
H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E-S
(there may be some typos and grammatical errors I kinda got carried away)
I like all countries and all people. I can't, unlike you all judge a whole country off a few things. Even though you may dislike me and my country I still like all of you. One day I will travel to your countries and learn all there is to know. Art, history, foods, lanuages, and just people in general. I will go there with an open mind, which many of this lot seem to be missing. Have a great day. Contessa

I am US borne, I lived in Miami-Florida for seven years, before that, I lived in south America and recently move out of Florida for good to the UK, and now I look back to these past 7 years and even though I did my professional career there, I felt it was the 7 worst years of my live (social wise), because of this capitalistic systems I did not have many friends, everybody was busy, did not have a real girlfriend cause I did not have money to show and people saw me like I was a rat because I was poor “the more you have, the more you are” . And in the US, you can not pursued a university degree unless you come from a very wealthy family or live in debt for the rest of your life and if you become sick, you either have to have an insurance (very expensive if not paid by employer) or lived in debt for the rest of your live.
I think in the US, there is a culture to work but not culture to socialise with others, for example Drs see you as a number $ more than as a patient, i don’t want to generalise but i think the US system changes people into machines and blocks their mind form what is outside, most of the people I meet there, think that the US is the best country in every single way, without even visiting other countries, well I don’t blame then , with the little time off we had in Florida as listed on linked below, there is not time to visit any other countries,
Well, something else I realize when I was travelling Europe and south America, I noticed that most of Americans did not make any effort to a least speak the most common or used word in other languages and expect everybody to speak english as once a girl from Chicago told me “we are leaving the a globalisation world so everybody need to speak English”
In the other hand I think that economically wise US is great , my parents are doing financially very well so is my brother and most of the people I know, but unfortunately all the money they make and have, cant not even be enjoyed. I think that WE as “Americans” should see the world equally, change our minds, not because we are richest and have the economical power we have the right to abuse others and impose our system, ethics, morals as every country has their own and we should respect that.

Yes!
What I hate about Americans?
I hate the fact that we tolorate people like the ones anwering this question. The question itself was not bad, an honest question, but first off. We fight with each other because that what families do. They fight and annoy, and pick on, and come together when there is a problem.
I hate the fact that people keep insisting on black people or mexicans being the root of our problems. The scumbags and vomit brokers who run the media in this country is who you blame. Rascism exists because people like al sharpten, jesse jackson, and the abc's and cbs's out there will not allow it to go away.
I hate the fact that we supply so much money to other countries and do not take care of our own.
America is the most ridiculously tolerant country on this planet and if it wasn't for America, the rest of the world would not be where they are today. Make no mistake about that! People spend way too much time disliking, hating etc.

That they are UNPATRIOTIC as hell, and do NOT stand up for WE THE PEOPLE, as we did when I was young. I think our diversity, and immigrations, and illegal immigrants have harmed the country in terms of PATRIOTISM<< Nobody is willing to stand up to the government on what is right for WE THE PEOPLE !! When a question comes across about what people love about america, no good answers showed up. NONE, theres no patriotism left here, because they changed the school books, and atheists wanted to ***** and complain over ignorant things that they could have overlooked, as we overlook them !! I do not even KNOW who is a TRUE BLOODED AMERICAN PATRIOT anymore.
They will fight for the right to bear arms, but not for the country, and whats best for it,,some guy was right,,nice guys finish last !! We need our own borders secured !! Keep out ALL that will not be a patriot and live up to our constitution, and if you arent patriotic, and love our bill of rights, as far as I am concerned then you are not an American and you need to go back where you came from ,,,my government will buy the tickets !! Dont ever come back all you unpatriotic people that have the courage to call yourselves an american !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha I'd like to see the Americans take on the Chinese. That would be the end of the idle country of America. However not all Americans are bad and some do work really hard but a lot don't.

I don't think it is right to blame all of us for the things that the Government does!!! Many of us don't support the atrocities, and most of us are also very nice people!!! But, the current government, and the people who support it, deserve all these negative comments and then some!!! Some Americans like things exactly like they are, and will fight tooth and nail to hold on to the status quo....but many of the rest of us, know that big change is desperately needed, and we are doing what we can to spread the word and help to bring much needed change about!!!

I wouldn't say that I dislike them but I do get tired of their naivety about world problems. Also when some of them come over here they can't be bothered to find out whether they are in a village, town or city; everywhere is a city according to them. Also, why must they talk in such LOUD voices it makes them seem even more ignorant.

They're so slow to realise that they don't live in a democracy. If the President can ignore senate decisions by simply making a comment at the bottom of a legally accepted decision then he's a dictator.

How naive and gullible they are. Like children.
Almost every fault they have is because some corrupt or narrow-minded idiot has led them by the nose.
Maybe once they mature as a country they will begin to realise that using their own mind and experiences isn't un-patriotic. And that the country belongs to the individual not the leader.

Wow, so many things!
Firstly, they can't speak English! How hard is it to put a "u" in Colour?
Secondly they are the biggest racists on the planet! They have so much to say about racism in other country's, but turn a blind eye on what is happening in their own back yard.
And then there is their superiority complex, they think that the rest of the world worships them, but it is defiantly not the case.
Also, what is an African American? You are either an African or an American. I am a South African, therefor I am African, I might have a light skin, but that does not make me a European African, I have never been to Europe, neither have my parents, or grandparents, so I can't claim to be European.
They also feel obliged to jump in with both feet and start a war if it looks like their oil supply might be threatened, on the basis of protection human rights or some such, but blatantly ignore infringements of human rights in non-oil rich country's.
I could go on and on, but I'll stop now, it's bad for my health to get so agitated. :->
