I have limited experience with musicals, and I would like to expand my knowledge. What musicals would be good for me to begin with?

I have been in a few musicals: Godspell, Annie Get Your Gun, and The King and I. I have seen Beauty and the Beast and Chicago (live). What else is good?

The Tony Awards Website has a list of all nominees by year. Look up those nominated for Best Musical. I'm a huge fan of all things Stephen Schwartz and Sondheim. Rent and (Jonathan Larson's autobiographical musical) tick, tick Boom are very good as well.

If you want to have a broad base of musical theatre knowledge, you really need listen to shows by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Rodgers and Hart and Lerner and Lowe (old school).

Andrew Lloyd Webber (Phantom) people either love or hate. Many theatre "snobs" can't stand Lloyd Webber.

You'll want to start with the usual Phantom of the Opera, of course. Rent is totally different and that will expand your knowledge a bit. Wicked is the new modern musical that everyone knows, very important. Sweet Charity is always a good idea if you're planning on talking about high school musicals. It's A Wonderful Town is always fun to know. Cats and Les Mis are both very important, as are the Lion King and Aida. Beauty and the Beast as well. Modern musicals like Avenue Q are going to be very important in addition to the classics. Just keep looking into new and old musicals alike. As for a starting point, Phantom and Wicked and Rent. Then Les Mis.

it is cool Punch. i will take a glance. i actually purely observed my first Broadway play final weekend and it replace into truly spectacular. i actually might desire to work out an fairly sturdy action picture popping out of it too. It replace into referred to as subsequent to generic. I purely heard the tunes as quickly as in passing and did not completely connect with any specific songs, the orchestration replace into very cool in spite of the undeniable fact that. some truly great vocal harmonies and a reasonably cool take on the soundtrack particularly (it replace right into a musical). Anyhoo, i don't inevitably have any favorites. I continuously have been prepared on the song 1921 from Tommy, which falls mind-blowing into that showtune mold.
