Laser applications to the skin of the face for ACNE fall into two categories. Stimulating lasers reduce infection and stimulate a healing reaction of the skin. Peeling lasers remove inflamed or scarred tissue to allow new skin to grow over the affected area.

What is the difference between Laser treatments and other treatments?
The greatest advantage of Laser Treatments is the speed with which results are achieved. Most patients will notice a marked improvement in their complexion after one treatment. Laser achieves results more rapidly than IPL or other therapies.

How much do Laser treatments Cost?
The cost of treatments depends on the size of the treatment area. Most patients spend $550 to treat the whole face. Larger areas of skin are charged at $220 per 15minutes lasing time.

What are the risks of Laser treatments?
A small number of patients (1 to 5%) experience the following side effects and complications:

Swelling and blistering of the treated skin
Burning of the skin with skin breakdown
Swelling of the lower eyelids
Excessive pain during the procedure
Worsening of ACNE
Darkening of the treated skin
Excessive whiteness of the treated skin
Activation of cold sores
Any patient developing side effects and complications should contact the treating doctor immediately.

Who should not undergo Laser treatments?

Patients who have received a lot of sun exposure and are heavily tanned
Patients who have received treatment with Roaccutane for their ACNE within six months
Patients with active infections

No. good laser treatment will not leave any mark. Nor will be any issue with going out in the sun. That is only for the healing period.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser is used to resurface the facial problems such as wrinkles, blotches, age spots, fine lines and scar marks. Procedures such as dermabrasion are also used for this purpose. Laser resurfacing is a bloodless process and doctors can control the resurfacing more accurately with it. The risk of infection is also low with this procedure. With latest lasers available, this process is revolutionizing the procedure of facial resurfacing. Sometimes, this procedure is combined with other procedures such as face lifting, etc. To know more about how laser resurfacing works, let us first find out about lasers.

What Are Lasers?
A laser is focused high energy light. The scientific name of LASER is 'Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation'. Ordinary light emits photons in all the directions and consists of many wavelengths. Unlike that, laser emits photons in a single direction and consists of a single wavelength. Laser therefore has very high energy and can be focused on any object or in any direction. In laser skin resurfacing, the laser burns away the unwanted skin tissues bloodlessly and gives a new shape with precise control.
