We care how much gas we use because regardless of global warming, we are using up our fuel resources faster than the earth can replenish them. This means that our children and our children's children won't have the fuel that they need to get around, and they will have to find an alternative fuel source. That isn't fair.

The gas bill is reason enough, unless you like spending money needlessly. As for global warming, here's the skinny on what we know, and don't know:
- The world's temperature seems to be increasing. This is not news; the temperature has been fluctuating for the past 4 billion years.
- The atmospheric level of CO2 is increasing. This is established by measurements. The amount of increase suggests that human activity is a cause.
- CO2 can reduce radiation of infrared into space. We do not know whether the increased CO2 level is responsible for warming; computer simulation studies suggest that it may be, but such studies are notoriously unreliable, as anyone who has tried to predict the weather with computers is all too well aware.

because we use vehicles and devices that use fossill fuels i.e. gas. If we didnt have this commodity we would adapt but just like electronics its something we just couldn't "do without"
