There are hundreds of different Cuban cigars - every brand has a different blend of tobaccos, and every size smokes differently.
It is a matter of taste. Cohiba Esplendidos are the most counterfeited cigars in the world; I doubt that 1 in 100 people who claim they have smoked them have actually smoked a real Cohiba.
Contrary to what others have written, Macanudos are NOT Cuban cigars. Ignore advice from those who say that they have never smoked a Cuban cigar; it is like getting sex tips from a virgin. Cigars are one of the key export products from Cuba, and, since the 2001 vintage, the quality has been exceptional.
Are the smokes the same as they were before the Revolution? No! But like any vintage product, the quality changes with every year.
Try a range of Cuban cigars from mild blends (Diplomaticos) to strong ones (Vegas Robaina), in a variety of sizes, and decide what YOU like.
Enjoy!

You won't be able to buy real Cuban cigars if you live in America. The next closest thing on the American market are cigars made from tobacco leaves from Cuban strains grown in the States.
I don't smoke cigars very often, but I first like to look for "house" brands depending on where I am.

Cubans are mostly overrated and hyped because of the stigma around them being illegal in the USA. I have had several Cubans and they are not all that. I have had Romeo y Julieta and Cohiba and Sancho Panza brands that were genuine Cuban that I thought were only SLIGHTLY better than the Dominicans and Nicaraguans. Most of the tobacco varieties being used in South and Central America are seeded from the Cuban strains.

If you live in the US, you cannot purchase Cuban goods. Cigars in the US are produced from leafs grown in Honduras, Nicuruaga, Dominican Republic, and a few others. I have never tried an actual Cuban, but I have talked to gentlemen who have before Castro took over and have now. They have informed me that quality is not what it used to be. Tobacco produced from these other countries are actually superior.
But most people (who most likely have never had one) keep pushing the Cubans are the best thing.

The Cohiba Esplendido is probably the best cigar in the world.
I guess that would make the Cohiba brand the best ;-)
