Many people learn from history...
Many people do not and must repeat mistakes of the past.

If we DON'T learn from history, we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. History tells us what, how, and why things happened and what not to do again. History tells us that the tactics (?) used in WW 1 do not work anymore and we must revise how to fight and win without great unnecessary loss of lives. In WWII, we learned better ways to use troops, artillery, tanks, and planes to the best advantage without excessive loss of lives. We also learned what to watch for when a tyrant comes to power and what to do about them BEFORE they try to destroy millions of lives for no good reason. The history of America is most interesting because America was the very first nation conceived in Liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal, and are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. And that we have the right to defend our selves, family, possessions, personal papers, and state (state being state of mind, or the state of the Union, our country) and country from those who would have designs on power or would try to destroy democracy by force. (That means we have undoubted Rights to have firearms for that defense and firearms cannot be taken by laws contrary to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.) So you see? History is as important today as when it was being lived by our Founding Fathers.

We study the past so we don't repeat those mistakes, or at least try not to. History has a way of repeating itself anyway. Also, it's important to have knowledge of our country's origin. Nothing just happened on its own. There's a story behind everything.

i understand how you feel... i never liked history too... i guess history is meant for us to learn about the past (heroes, heroines, and infamous people too) and about how we are to avoid making the same mistakes of the past... and to prepare children to be future politicians/generals/presidents/etc.
