I've been reading a lot of really hateful and stupid questions about immigration, but I have a serious one. If the government decided to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants, do you think it would be a good idea to place them in a higher tax bracket for a period of time as opposed to people who come to country and work within the system to become citizens? Please leave any trailer trash threats out. I'm interested in serious replies only.

Nope.

You are talking about people how have for the most part been paid less than the legal minimum wage.

Your average illegal does not have that much money.

The question I wonder is if one becomes legal, does there boss fire them in favor of another illegal he can exploit?

Interesting suggestion. Problem is it is outside of the law. We all are suppose to be equal. When it comes to illegals ..our current government considers them more equal than the rest of us. More valuable apparently. I imagine it would probubly be that the new illegals would be given a tax DISCOUNT for being illegal, that way assuring them that they should stay and continue in their ways of illegality. The rest of us could be assured that we don't matter as much and therfore, should have our taxes raised, in order to make up for the tax shortage not paid for by the illegals.
Of course this approach would lead to yet another wave of illegal people coming to the US. In the end, all that will solve this problem will be the native and legal Americans being so short changed that they will lose their homes, have no jobs and basically see that only a blood and guts riot will bring it to an end. Otherwise this unhappy, distateful, insulting treatment of AMericans will go on.
What other soltution can there be? If they are illegal, they are cheap and easy. If they are made into citizens, they will be like and suffer the carnage of the rest of us.
Why would they change? So they could pay more taxes and be treated on a higher level of responsibility?
The illegals want free stuff ...they don't want to pay taxes and become Americans. Then they would REALLY lose.

No you cannot alter the tax system to accommodate people who break the law. From what we are told 90% make $ 3-4 dollars an hour. I don't see how this would help when you include dependents the tax level falls right back where it started

No. For 2 reasons. 1st you would never get anything like that pushed through as it is inherently unfair (I know tax law is unfair but this would be unfair to a group that is guaranteed sympathy and rightly so). 2nd it would be unenforceable. The group you are talking about has already demonstrated a clear willingness to break the laws they don't like or agree with. You would never get the slightest degree of compliance from the willing criminals you propose to tax or the habitual lawbreakers that employ them illegally. The net result would be even MORE laws that don't get enforced.

Please check out this video for a better understanding of how unworkable the existing policies are. Any concessions would only make it worse.

No, People should be placed in what ever tax bracket that follows their wages. Unbeknown to many, undocumented do actually pay taxes and most will never see the taxes they paid. Don't be surprised if you get responses you do not want. I asked 2 questions a few weeks ago and I only got unintelligible responses.

No, the illegals will all scream "racist" like they do about everything else.
