I don't disagree at all with the first poster ... BUT .. i would like to add that maybe a trip to the Vet may be in order ..
Dogs can suffer from depression and maybe he's suffering from anemia ....He may just need a bout of vitamins ..
Pets are such a wonderful part of our lives .. BUT how they can break our hearts ...
as the first answer said shower him with love and affection .. both you and he deserve this time to make memories.

It seems funny but old dogs love a full body massage...its a language they can speak even when they are deaf and blind. Massage her often...it feels so good to them and gets circulation going in their bodies. After she gets used to a daily 30 minute massage, she will perk up a great deal.
I found a stray dog like that and vets thought she was 8 or 10 years old...after daily massages and brushing, her entire personality changed and the next time I took her to a vet, they thought she was only 4 or 5 years old! Her limp is greatly reduced and she is starting to act like a much younger dog...still sleeps a lot but wags her tail often and is responsive to my voice and presence. I have no idea how old she is.
In reality, your dog IS ready to go. Get her used to massages and calm her, cheer her and then let her peacefully go to that eternal sleep that she is so ready for. Its a beautiful way to die and she will know she was loved well and you will know you served her well. Don't let her die while she is sad though. Just my personal preference because I think dying while heart broken is just too depressing.
I want to die laughing at my 105th birthday party...I can't imagine that a dog wouldn't want the same thing.

I am so sorry for you as it seems you may not have him around much longer. Please remember that his quality of life must come first. We went through this last year and know too well how hard it is to let go but you must put his wellbeing first. See the vet to make sure there is no other problem like heart kidney etc and that he is not in pain. If he is then the kindest thing is to let go. He does not understand why this is happening to him and will be very distressed so you as the one he relies on must do the best you can for him. My heart really goes out to you at this time. Be strong for him.

Is your dog otherwise healthy? Have him checked by a vet. Blindness, I'm sure, can make a dog depressed, but they can adapt. Use physical attention and thoughtful ways to allow your dog to move freely throughout the house (lessen obstacles). No more eye contact, so he needs to feel your affection. Your vet can probably recommend methods for keeping a blind dog's mind stimulated. Dog trainers should be a good source too.

Bless your heart! Your dog is confused, and probably depressed, as his whole world , as he has known it, has changed. the most you can do , is still show him lots of affection. He knows when you are near him, he just doesn't know how to adjust to his physical changes, so he is withdrawn.
Don't change where his food or water is, don't move the furniture around.
Give him security, put a tee shirt you have worn where he sleeps, and just being close to him as much as you can.
My Mom's dog, a little poodle, was deaf and had cataracts, but still responded to her presence...remember their sense of smell is keen, and your dog will for sure know when you are near.
Love him all you can, petting him and still talking to him,,,he is lucky to have you & your family !

just lots of love and affection, do not leave him on his own as his is a lonely dark world now. Touch and soothing talk and plenty of warmth and food and toys that he loves. Just all the home comforts really. Familiar little walks, nothing too excitable. Nice soft warm blanket, In a place he can go anytime he wants and no loud noises and nice, familiar routine. Good luck. i am sorry for you as it must be heart-breaking for him. But he knows you love him, that is the main thing. and of course, regular vet check ups, in case there is anything new they can do. xx

I hope you've taken him to a vet to see what the medical reason is for his sudden deafness and blindness. It may be he is suffering from a treatable illness.

have you ever heard of Tramadol? My collie go began getting arthritis even as she grew to grow to be 12, she grew to grow to be more suitable truly and before each thing we concept it grow to be only portion of her transforming into old, then our vet stated tramadol and interior of very few months of taking it she's like a puppy back, always taking section in with both my 6 year old and a pair of year old dogs and able to bypass on 2 30-40 minute walks an afternoon, it truly is like she's were given a sparkling employ of existence! in my opinion i imagine you should search for suggestion out of your vet about tramadol and observe if of their opinion it can make any distinction on your dogs, do not get your hopes up too a lot notwithstanding, your dogs arthritis would nicely be too stepped ahead to make a lot if any distinction. you should well known even as that's time to assert see you later, do only not deliver your emotions into it i recognize that is so puzzling to do yet you should seem at your dogs as in case you've been an intruder, there is a few questions you should ask your self; Is he in discomfort? (undergo in concepts dogs cover their discomfort so in case you are able to locate they are in discomfort then it must be undesirable) Can he nevertheless do all/lots of the failings he's always loved doing? taking section in fetch, little walks and so on Is he chuffed/does he nevertheless have a good time with existence? Can he nevertheless do each and on a daily basis events with out coursing discomfort, eg laying down/getting up, ingesting, ingesting, going to the bathroom. i recognize it is not difficulty-free, fairly puzzling notwithstanding it truly is more suitable constructive to enable him bypass fairly then keep him going even as he's only residing a existence of discomfort and disappointment, in time you'll sense happy you position him down that you ended his suffering, you'll recognize you probably did the right element. in case you want your dogs you'll keep him residing longer then he could in case you truly love you're dogs you'll placed your human being emotions aside and do what's excellent for him. I do sense so sorry for you i have had to placed 2 dogs down and it truly is the most painful element i have ever had too do.
