Dispose That Waste
You have a few different options to dispose of your dog's waste. For lawns, consider a rake specifically designed for picking up dog waste. For taking those daily walks, it's always handy to have a dog clean-up bag. There are a variety of commercial options available from biodegradable to scented to help mask any odors. If you're interested in an environmentally friendly option for your yard, try a waste disposal system. You install a waste container on your lawn that works like a septic tank to turn dog waste into a liquid absorbed into the ground. -

Compost it. This has to be done by a thourough procedure, as there are toxins in the doo... check out the link below on community garden / city farmer re tips on doing so.. note that you CANNOT use this compost on food crops. (there are also commercial composting products available for your doo, other link below) You can also bury it, or just flush it down your toilet. In San Francisco, apparently they have inititated a biodegradable bag concept and special bins - the wast is then take to a planet where it is "harvested" for its methane gas and turned into fuel! - maybe you can suggest this to your local government rep. EDIT: speaing of hazards to the sanitation guys, apparently in snowy areas, after the thaw - when the owner discovers Rover's many wintertime dropping that had hitherfore been buried in snow - the frozen dookies when placed in a bag and thawed - apparently expand within the sealed bag... when tossed in the back of the truck and the compactor is turned on the results are quite literally EXPLOSIVE, spraying defrosted doo-doos over the poor operator! (ewwwwww)

Use a plastic grocery bag, fit it over your hand sort of like a loose glove. Pick up the poo fold it into the bag and then tie the bag into a knot. Dispose of bag in trash.

The also sell dog poo bags in target/walmart/petsmart. But a plastic grocery bag works especially with larger dogs.
