They don't believe he was the son of God. Jesus himself said something like, they don't believe me because I was raised right here. In other words, he was just "the boy next door" to them. They are still looking for the Messiah.

Jesus was what is known as an essence Jew this tribe was prodominantly located at quram near the dead sea if you read the Magnalene Legacy by L. Gardner it will probably give you direction on this point . The conflict I actually have with this whole concept is that Jesus had to be born of the Davidic line which stemmed through Joseph so if Jesus was immaculately concieved as is told by St Paul then in all rights he could not fulfill the prophecies of Isiah that the Messiah would be born of the house of David , This mayuu be some of the reason that the Jewish do not accept major precepts of the Christian faith

The Answer is quite simple: Jesus did not fulfilled the "Jewish Messianic Prophecies" about "The Messiah" according to Jewish Scriptures! New Testament try to show "others prophecies" that in fact are not Messianic prophecies at all, and off course do not proves nothing about Jesus. For example, no Jewish Phophet had talked about "second comming" for the "Messiah". Yet, Christians says that the prophecies that Jesus did not realized, he will do whem he comes back...its demonstrate briefly that the Jewish Prophecies were not fulfilled and Jesus could'nt be Messiah for this reason. You are a christian who needs to read her bible. Its all in there. The Jews didn't accept Jesus because they were expecting a Messiah that would immediately redeem them from the Romans. Even the disciples thought that Jesus would dramatically lead a revolution against the Romans. The disciples were confused when Jesus died, even though before his death he had tried to explain what would happen. So after Jesus death, when the apostles were spreading the good news about what his death meant..the Jews were still condeming this message. The Christians that sprang up from the Jews became "Christians" while a vast majority of the Jewish faith continued to look for the Messiah..(they couldn't accept that he had already come and they still don't accept it)

To answer your question properly - would take a couple of pages to explain. We don't have that luxury here. So in a nutshell, let my try to compact it.
The Jews are looking for a human being, a common human, not a God who is a man, which contradicts the ancient scriptures of the Torah. Too many of we Christians believe Jesus was in fact God himself and fail to realize even after Jesus said it and Paul said it, that Jesus was and is God's representative (and Son), and not God himself.
Even the Jews understood Jeremiah when he said the titles of the Messiah would be "God with us" as in Moses time. Just as God was with the people THROUGH MOSES.., the same is with Jesus. Except that God lived inside Jesus, much as God placed his spirit in the Ark of the Covenant. If you will accept it, Jesus IS the Ark of the New Covenant (New Testament).
God is with men, through his only direct representative, Jesus, who is the mediator between God and men.., just exactly as Paul said.
WHEN the Jews realize Jesus really was/is the messiah, they will acknowledge him as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. And that will not happen till the proper time, and the Trinity or so called Oneness preachers will not help the matter along by saying Jesus was his own Father.., which is a contradiction.
When all things are finished - when the last enemy (death) has been put under foot.., whom does Jesus hand all power and authority back to? Himself? NO! The New Testament says, Jesus hands all power and authority all back to his Father.., God himself!
As I said - its not just the Jews that will realize this truth of who Jesus was and is.., and that he was who he said he was and is. A good many mislead Christians will discover the truth as well. The sooner we come to this realization, the quicker we can grow in knowledge and truth of the Bible instead of the knowledge and man-manufactured truth of sectarianism.
I believe as the tribulation begins, the Jews and many mislead Christians will start to see this truth. Sadly, many self acclaimed Christians will lose heart when Jesus does not come as MAN TAUGHT and fall away to Islam or even no religion. They will fall because the Bible teaches that Jesus will not come before the Antichrist comes - but sometime AFTER the Antichrist is revealed.
Read these scriptures to find out about when Jesus really does come back..., (after the Antichrist appears and after or possibly during the tribulation, not before)
* Matthew Ch. 24: 29-31
* 2nd Thessalonians Ch.2: 1-12
* Revelation ch. 20: 4-6

Your question makes a lot of sense and is a good question that many people ask.
Jesus was born a Jew because he was born to a mother whose racial and cultural identity was that of a Jew. At that time being a Jew wasn't a Faith or Religion, as most people in that area of the world believed in God or not and if they believed in God they believed that the Son of God, Jesus Christ would one day come into the world. People who are of the Jewish faith do not believe Jesus was the Son of God, the Savior of the world. They are still awaiting the coming of a Savior.
Jewish people are not all of the Jewish faith. People of the Jewish faith are not always racially Jews, some join the Jewish Faith who are not racially a Jew. Some people born of Jewish ancestory are Christians and not of the Jewish Faith. Does that make sense?
So being of the Jewish Faith, religion, means that you do not believe that Jesus Christ is the fortold Savior of the World, born to a virgin mother and his father being Heavenly Father and Joseph his Step-father.
Many people of the Jewish Faith believe that Jesus was a good man, but they do not believe he was the Savior.
In the Bible it states, "I came unto my own and they believed me not." For those living during Jesus Christs life upon the earth, they could not accept him as THE SAVIOR, because even with the miracles he performed, with his love and his teachings, they saw him as just a man.
I'm not sure I've explained it well enough to be helpful.

Jesus was born Jewish but with his death it was thought that he broke the Hebrew laws which turned Judaism to Christianity and making the Old Testament a source of the past and the New Testament the "New Covanent" for people to follow.
There are some Jews who do follow Jesus, they're called Mesianic (sp?) Jews and some have a group called, "Jews for Jesus". I would try googling them for more information.
Hope this helps.

Jesus was Jewish but Jewish people don't believe that he was Messiah. However they don't pray to him because he was like a regular human being as we all are. Jewish believe in G-d only, not in some kind of person that was crucified.
"The real Messiah will NEVER die, even though you will try to kill him".

because they thought Jesus was just a prophet. The jewish faith is messed up in alot of ways. Everything to them is unclean. They would not even shake hands with you. There is a mini series called hogan knows best. On one of the episode the hogans moved. They wanted to have a party to get to know the neighbors. They find out a majority of their neighbors are jewish. They go out of their way to throw a kosher party (Jews cant eat anything that is not blessed by a rabbi-hence kosher food) anyway, the jews refused to eat the food and were just really rude to them. If you dont believe me do a google search on it. Anyway, they dont believe he is the son of God.

Jesus was a Jew because there was no Christianity before Him. Jews today don't believe in Him, because they do not accept Him as messiah. They only believe in the Old Testament, while Christians believe in the Old and New Testaments.

jesus was a hebrew.....the word jewish wasnt used to way after that time. anyway, most jews dont believe that jesus was the messiah because they feel that the prophecy wasnt fullfilled with him. jesus was a political activist at the time of his death, which is the actual reason he was crucified.
jews believe that jesus was most likly a prophet, but their messiah has yet to come.
