Canned Tomato Juice. Give them a bath, use the tomato juice before and after the soap. Rub it in, rinse it out. It will neutralize the odor but not necessarily get rid of it 100% -- sometimes it lingers faintly for a few days. It just has to work its way out to go away entirely

I have found the following recipe to work best (nothing works 100%)

Info from website listed below

This recipe can be used to bathe animals that have been sprayed by a skunk. Keep it away from your pet’s eyes. It will also remove the odor from clothing. It may damage some fabrics, so use at your own risk. It is always wise to consult your veterinarian if your animal has been exposed to any wild mammals. The veterinarian may want to booster your pet’s rabies vaccination.

Mix all together:

1 quart 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
¼ cup baking soda
1 tsp. Liquid dish soap (dog shampoo, if your dog has sensitive skin)
Best results are obtained when the animal is washed several times. Massage the mixture into the animal, and let it work for 5-10 minutes. After the final wash, rinse the animal very well. Use cool water near the end of the bath.

If your dog tangles with a skunk, you and he both may be feeling the pain of the stench. Here's a de-skunking recipe to soothe the olfactory senses:

• 1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide
• 1/4 cup baking soda
• 1 teaspoon liquid soap

(This recipe can be doubled for bigger breeds)

Wet your dog down with water and work the mixture through your pooch's hair. Leave the mixture on for three to four minutes and rinse. Be sure to throw away any excess mixture.

You can also try soaking your dog in tomato juice in the bathtub. Or, if you prefer, there are many dog odor removal products on the market that specifically target removing a stinky skunk spray!

Dawn liquid dish soap is the best way. None of the fancy crap. Bathe it all over in Dawn without diluting it. Rinse THOROUGHLY as Dawn will be very irritating on the skin if it's not removed completely, and the skin will already be irritated from the skunk spray. After you've done this, give it a normal shampoo with extra conditioner and, again, rinse thoroughly.

the suitable aspect by technique of far is the hydrogen peroxide and baking soda and dish cleansing soap. mix in a bucket and sponge it on the canines and enable it sit down on for 10-quarter-hour then rinse nicely with undeniable water. Works far extra ideal than the tomato depending stuff and believe me I actual have 2 searching canines and a doberman all of whom were skunked. They were waiting to sleep interior the living house after being bathed in theis stuff. We save the elements handy in any respect situations.

You don't.... you just wait for it to dissipate..... give him a good bath (tomato sauce does NOT work) and then wait.
