Actually your puppy will teach you his "nature calls"
You should always take your pup immediately after eating or drinking his meals...this will let him know after he eats he's going outside!!

Use the same door always when taking him out...eventually he will head towards that door and just stare at it to let you know when it's his time to go. He will not sit down or play in that area to show you he means business!! The next amazing thing..if you hang the leash on that door handle, he will start to grab it and bring it to you when he has to go!! You'll see!!

Dogs are amazing!!

The Bell Trick!

Get a little bell and screw it/attach it on the wall near the floor of all the main "exit" doors in your house. Make sure it's low enough for your puppy's little paw to touch it.

Every time you go outside, make sure you touch (or kick) the bell so it makes a noise.

Your puppy will understand that every time the door is opened to leave the house, that little bell is rung. The puppy will get the hint and start ringing it on its own! After while, you shouldn't have to make the bell ring anymore (unless you notice your dog forgetting).

It's so cute AND IT WORKS!

OK, I just found the following article that might explain it a little better than me...

Go outside with your dog frequently. Using the same words each time. Lots of trips out to the same spot. Really praise him when he does his duties. I sometimes leave my dog's water dish right outside the door. When they want a drink they need to go stand by the door. As soon as you see your dog go near the door open it and let him out. Some dogs are just smarter than others I think, or have found. Lots of trips outside and not allowing it to happen at all. If he does make a mistake you have to talk unhappy about it to him. He has to learn it wasn't acceptable. I think dogs need to go wee wee more than people, so let him out often.

To teach your canine to signal when he wants to go outside, you have to train him to associate a certain cue with being let outside to eliminate. For instance, you could attach a small bell to the door and ring it each time you let your pooch outside to go potty. Each time he hears the bell, he'll associate it with going out to eliminate. Eventually, you will want to encourage your canine to ring that bell himself. Reward your dog each time he rings the bell with a treat, immediately let him outside, and give him the command to eliminate. Your canine will be alerting you to potty breaks in no time.

you could teach them that when they wanted to go out and do their business that they could go to the door and bark.
