I started by having a "Precious Moments" figurine placed in the center of her cakes as a child. Alas since her early teens she hasn't liked cake.

I know she's only one but my friend makes cup cakes and lets the kids decorate them themselves. she put diferent candy in bowls and diferent coloured icing inbowls and lets them do the decorating. It's a blast!Messy but fun.I have a daughter who is celebrating her first birthday in a month too but she is too young to understand most of it. We are just having family come over for some pizza and cake and then she can open present's(with help from mommy). It will last about 2hours thats it.
Have fun!

i say just get a cake just for her. every time i go to a babies birthday, it is always rubbing there hands in the icing. just get a cake for her and a cake for all the other guests. that would be perfect.

also, just invite a few family members over for the party, or she will just get overwhelmed and start acting really weird. you could just add people every birthday so she just could ease into all the excitement.

you could do something like...change up the birthday song to something original, that would be something to do for years and years...it would be something nobody would ever really think to do!

We started getting a small cake that is just for them. They make like 5 in cakes and they are perfect. They get a special cake and they can make as big of a mess as they want with it. Have fun!!

where you have the birthday party will be more important to you than it will be for the birthday girl...she will enjoy all the attention and the toys and good food ... but she won't care where she is...as long as mommy is there...Ha Ha I would suggest your home or that of a relative...this is much cheaper and more comfortable for you all...except the clean-up lady....have fun decorating and making food and cake for the guests...have plenty of balloons and lots of colorful decorations...if it is warm enough, have it outside and cook out...that is always a hit!!!
