I woke up this morning to go to the toilet, and I heard my neck crack loudly. Now I can't tilt my head to the left, its hurts badly!!! I've take panadol, I've put deepheat on it, nothing works. My heads been tilted all day and I look like a retard.

How do I make it better without anything painful.

By the way I hate doctors, and I will not go to one of them.

Lay on the side that your head is tilted towards. MAKE it turn back enough that it is at least sitting properly on your shoulders. The only other treatment is time. Usually at least three days, before the muscles unlock and your head can move freely again.

Sometimes called "wry neck" it is really painful. Can be the result of having got a bit of a chill to the muscle, or just the way you slept. The best way I know to bring the pain down is the following simplified hydrotherapy:

(1)Put water into a styrofoam glass and put it in your fridge freezer until it freezes.

(2)Take a warm bath and submerge your neck. Add lavender essential oil to the water.

(3)After the bath, take the frozen styrofoam container and peel it back so that you can apply it in small circles to the side of your neck that is "frozen". Small intense circles continually for 7 minutes. You could have someone else do this for you.

(4)Warm up the skin by gently massaging it with coconut oil with a few drops of lavender oil in it. If there is still pain or stiffness, massage again with ice after it has warmed up.

The redness to the neck signals the blood moving around, which means you have circulation going on. Circulation=healing.

Good luck.

Well, if you slept wrong or have a stiff neck, get in a hot shower and let the hot water loosen the muscles up. It should be better in a few days, although very uncomfortable. If it lasts longer than that, you should seek some professional assistance, as there are delicate vertebrae in the neck area, and one or more could be displaced. A chiropractor could determine this by x-rays and relieve the pain with adjustments.

Hey, I've had a lot of neck pains, but the way you describe yours (with the loud crack, being tilted, lot of pain all day), I'd suggest you get it checked out by a doctor, not Yahoo Answers.

Visit a chiropractor...you've popped your neck out of place and it likely won't go back on it's own....It'll take a 15 minute chiropractor visit and you'll feel like a million bucks by the end of the day! Guess the choice is yours....pain vs. chiroporactor.......I think even though I hate Dr.s, I'd probably go!

Deep heat will only make it worse...it's swollen/inflammation from being out of place.....heat will only make the swelling worse...if your gonna treat it at all....treat it with ice....however, this will only be a temporary fix....won't feel better until you get it put back into place.
