Being able to separate the two would put religion at a disadvantage because it allows science to attack it from the critical foundation of "facts" and the Bible would not be able to hold up on that because it is based on "faith". So it is imperative that science be grouped with religion in their view thus giving them a sense of comfort that science's "facts" confirms their faith when in actuality they most certainly do not. Its a child's game where the adults need to wake up and accept reality regardless of what science has uncovered.

In regards to the commenter just above me saying that the top scientists are Christian...that is most definitely not true. They did a poll and found that 95% of scientists are not religious. You name any of the top scientists and not one are religious today, e.g. Stephen Hawkings, Richard Dawkins, etc. I think its because science is all about empiriical evidence and does not allow room for the idea of faith. This is the reason why most scientists are not believers in supernatural.

Interestingly you would think science and religion would be able to go hand-and-hand since science should only be confirming the myths in the bible..more specifically, "Genesis". But in reality not one credible scientist who wishes to keep his job will say that Genesis happened since the evidence that has been uncovered by multiple disciplines of science contradicts it unanmously. It's insane how miserable Gensis missed it. Not even close!

Creation Science and its bastard incarnations is a travesty to humanity because ironically it holds onto fairy tales and promotes lies because when it comes down to it the real science evidence hurts their feelings! It says "we aren't that special"

Christianity/religion plays a large and defining role for many on how they live there life, make decisions, and function on a daily basis.. But Christianity requires you to have that huge leap of faith because events in the Bible quite simply do not make sense and do not have hard core scientific explanations. Basically, science tests the faith of the Christian by contradicting the very thing they believe and hold to be true,

Christians blatantly claim that science is separate from religion. Throughout history, wars have started to prevent science from entering the minds of Christians. Your question hints that you think they need to be separated. Do you agree with the Fascists of the past?

For a starter one should know better than to lump everyone into one category
I for one am very much a Christan--can and do separate the two and yet at the same time there are so many correlations that it is impossible to separate the two.
I do realize that there are times when there are not any explanations for a particular happenings so we have some sort of pat answer via science that is not any more than what the Christan's have to say about it.
Okay then what about the mixing of pagan and Christians oh wait that is another story altogether...

What do you mean. Science has no answer. Science can't explain how free atoms and hydrgen existed before the big bang. Science stays take it on faith!

Religion talks of things that science eventually explains, except science is thousands of years behind on it all.

Does religion block scienctific advancement, yea it does, so does poltics, so do good atheists who are concerned about crazy mad scientists creating a bug like HIV for the CIA, which is still a potential reality.

I still don't undestand why Oppenheimer actually MADE the bomb! What was he and those other men out to prove. That it could be done. Did they think it would never be used. Did they think blowing up cities one at a time would scare Hitler.

Now, if you could blow up a country with one bomb, that would scare someone.

Schinderler made guns and bombs for Hitler that didn't work.

Schindler knew what he was doing, too!

Why didn't Oppenhiemer give Truman a ball filled with spare parts.

We do know the difference.

But, why can't science operate without worrying about Christians? A lot of what I read is focsed on proving the Christians wrong. I believe in true science....

Just to let you know, my religion hasn't changed, but science changes every day. The world is flat, no, it's round. Pluto is a planet, no, it's not.....

I'm just saying, there is only a conflict between the two because fuel keeps being added to the debate and neither side will budge.

all Christians i know welcome a separation between church and science..wouldn't a better question be: why do the liberal-Darwin-believing-big-bng-theorist-evolutionists always try to blame the Christians?

There is scientific facts, and there are scientific opinions. I think the prob you are having is you think "Christians" are challenging science, but in fact they are challenging scientific opinions (primarily evolution).

So are you saying Muslims are any different than Christians...If anything, they are 100% more intense on their beliefs in the 21st century..You don't see Christian Terrorists do you..

Stop blaming what you fear and go blame a religion that is currently effecting the world today..

stop generalising. Christians are no morons or idiots. We are perfectly sane, intelligent beings who has been saved by GRACE and has come to know the truth about God and His son Jesus Christ.
You will find us in every sphere of society and we are perfectly able to separate between science and religion, but fully aware of the fact that God and God alone is the Creator and the one who has called science into being. Science only serves to confirm the Supremacy of the Almighty and Only God.
Maybe you should try getting to know God and then you will stop critisizing Christians.

You may just be surprised how much "science" a Christian can handle. Some of the top scientists in the world are Christian. It is amazing what someone can discover when you give God credit for what he deserves. You want to get into a word battle about it? Do a little research and you will find that an amazing number of discoveries were done by Christian scientists (and not the religion either).
