A Greek way is soup. fry some onion and garlic on Olive oil. Add lentil (soaked or can), tomato sauce, SALT and pepper, water and a bit of vinegar.

A Brazilian soup is: fry some bacon, remove and add some por sausage to the fat. Add onion and garlic, 2 italian tomatoes, and lentil and bacon . For more substance u can add 2 potatoes cubed. Salt and pepper. cook until tender. add parley or cilantro.

I love both of them.

Forget the refried beans and try this tasty spread

1 cup lentils, pre-cooked in 2 cups of water OR 1-1/2 cups canned cooked lentils, drained
1 sweet onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced finely
6 teaspoons margarine
1 teaspoon black pepper
Water if necessary
1/2 teaspoon vinegar

In a large saucepan, gently saute sweet onion and garlic in the margarine over low heat until soft, but not browned.

Season with black pepper. Add lentils and heat until warmed through.
Scrape lentil mixture into the bowl of a food processor fitted with the metal chopping blade. Process until smooth, adding water if necessary. Add vinegar and pulse until combined.
Serve lentil pate at room temperature with toasted bread rounds or savory crackers for a delicious vegetarian appetizer that will appeal to all.

I wish I knew more about you.

I assume you mean dry lentils.

Lentils are usually boiled with other stuff to give them more flavor.

Until most dry beans, they don't take very long to cook.

You can make lentil soup with water, ham hocks, bay leaf, thyme, onion.

But a lot of people don't want to cook with ham.

You can also cook them with slice of ginger root and other seasoning and serving them over rice. I believe that Indians call the various and many forms of this dish dahl.

Lentils are mighty tasty and a good source of protein.

Lentils take only about 20 minutes to cook (and no need to pre-soak either) They are the easiest legume to cook.
If you want it really simple just cover in water and add garlic and salt. If you want to make it more substantial then add whatever vegetable you like.(diced carrots, celery, peas,whatever..you can also add tomato sauce to increase the flavor. Lentils are very simple to work with.
