It is a very nice place to live and there are many oppurtunities for many people here. People are generally pretty laid back although they work as hard and as passionately as anywhere. The cities are not as large as most around the world, but places like Auckland are very spread out, sometimes making travelling a pain but Wellington on the other hand, is very compact. There is very little air pollution here and it is easy to live a healthy lifestyle (or unhealthy if that is what you fancy!). We have some amazing scenery and beaches if or when you get the chance to get away from your job for a while. I would recommend taking the oppurtunity to come and experience the country, if not just for the experience alone. You can always leave if you don't like it but I'm sure you will like it.

I'm one of those people who have lived everywhere, and could live anywhere. I chose New Zealand to stay for good.
You ask how this country is.
In a few words, I would say it is stunningly scenic, looks a bit like Northern California in the 1950s, feels a bit like Wales, and the structure and social system are reminiscent of Scandinavia.
This means it is a very egalitarian place. Everybody is equally important, and bosses openly socialize with employees. It is important to maintain excellent manners and remain calm and gentle at all times - much like you might in England, with which NZ probably shares many traits.
The climate is cooler than most people expect. The lifestyle is reminiscent of the better places in the US in the late 1970s, which means, quite liberal and easy, with fairly simple, but elegant architecture, and owning several cars is common.

I came here from the UK in 1968 and I'm still living here. Does that answer your question? I've visited about 30 countries, and with the possible exceptions of Canada and Iceland, if I lived in any, I'd eat a plate of dogshit to get into NZ and live here.

NZ is a very welcoming and friendly country, its easy to adjust to and its quite clean. The first answer,i assume is talking about traditional Maori Moko (tattoo) and there isnt much of that around. If you spot one of these Tane (men) around dont be afraid of them, they are just saying that they are maori and proud to be so.
But very rarely would you come across them.

All I can say is it's still steeped in some of it's ancient traditions.
A lot of guys with facial tattoos, but very, very, very nice folks.
Do NOT get on the wrong side of the tattooed fellows, but you can say that about anyplace.
Aukland is nicer than Christchurch in my opinion.
I'd trade spots with you in a second.
