At this age, because of what i call "the rubouts" her hair is probably uneven. Ya know when they are first born and rub some of their hair out and it gets thin in places and grows in others. About this age they need to get evened up. Problem is they don't want to sit still for this cut and sometimes come out a bit different from what we anticipated. If you don't want to cut it yet, will she leave a clip or a tie in it? If so just pull it over and clip it until it gets longer. If her forehead is large or wide ask that they not cut her bangs with scissors because that will create a horizontal line i.e. buster brown bangs. Good luck honey and don't forget the envelope to save her first haircut in.

Don't worry about it, get her hair cut but try to relieve yourself of some of the burden of choosing just how to get it cut.
I know it is kind of awkward because she's 1 and likely can't choose her haircut with words IE "I like this one"....even though, ultimately, it's her hair and should be her choice to some extent.
First, try this: give her a book of haircuts (the types of books they have at salons) and have her look at a few cuts you think might be good and see if she looks at certain styles a lot (IE she stares at one for a long time, smiles, or gives some other non-verbal sign she likes the style).
Then pick ones of those styles that you also think would look decent, if not great.
-----------------------------
If that doesn't work, you are obviously going to have to "be more selfish" and pick the style yourself :-)
If her forehead is big I'd keep at least some hair up front kind of a mid length cut a little like a male "bowl cut" but a bit longer with the front just long enough to be pushed behind the ears...if the hair ties pull out her hair it's probably best to avoid making it too short.

My 2 1/2 yr old just recently had enough hair to call hair, its a short bob... and her bangs were sparse and getting in her eyes. I cut them as even as I could without going too short since the sides are still thin. Now they look like normal bangs. I also cut the fine ends of the rest of her hair ( sorta in layers) and now it looks alot fuller. She has fine and light hair so I was worried too, but now it is really cute! Do what makes you feel comfortable though.

Sounds just like my daughter. Big head and thin hair with long bangs. I haven't cut her hair because it's so thin. I just constantly got it out of her eyes and so did she, until it grew long enough. Now it goes behind her ears, but more hair has grown and it falls differently now and it stays out of her eyes. I'm not cutting it yet.

I would take her to get her hair cut. I know what you are going through I with my first daughter we had to get her hair cut at 5 months old. Any way I would get it cut just tell them not to cut it straight across. It will look fine and if you don't like it it will grow back pretty fast

Don't worry. just cut it, don't get it into her eyes, might ruin her vision when shes older, and may become a bad habit.
take it to some baraber or a trustworthy friend if you don't want to do it by yourself.
believe me 1 year olds don't care about how they look rofl...i volunteer 3-5 year olds and some girls have hair cuts of guys...

No you do not favor to have your daughters hair cut back short because of head lice. in case you bypass to the chemist and ask to communicate to the chemist. He/she will advise a good product that you are able to use. There are a lot of different shampoos you'll get to eliminate head lice. also shampoo to stay away from them. Ask on the chemist. it may well be this style of disgrace to cut back her hair good success

Don't let your in-laws or anyone else sway you into a decision you're uncomfortable with. You do what you think is best for your baby girl!
