Yes, it is heading in that direction. The Vietnam War was first advertised to the American people as a retaliation for an attack on US interests in the Tonkin Gulf.
It then progressed as supposedly ending an invasion of South Vietnam.
Then when it was found out that there were South Vietnamese fighting alongside of the North Vietnamese, the President said that it was important to win to stave off the advancement of communism.
Bush has done the same thing with this war. And just like the Vietnam War, the Iraq War will progress to another Presidential Administration that will have to make the tough decisions.
As for the draft, it will not happen. Too many people still oppose it. The memories of the draft from the Vietnam War are still in the minds of too many voters and Congressmen. I would say that given a significant amount of time, say another two or three generations, and more people will become open to the possibility of a draft.

As far as the Draft most in the Military don't want it. Who needs a soldier not wanting to be there? Korea and Vietnam were stopping the spread of communism. Iraq is about terrror (Muslims). Somalia, Algeria, the cole,WT, the bombing at embassy, night clubs have been happening for awhile. There are still stories told about the crusades and Nuradin (Saladin) the jihad is a holy war. As a soldier recently said America needs to wake up, there is a war going on...... There are good things being done in Iraq but boring to report. Bush has said that this would be a long tough job. Media flashes 3000 in 5 yr war. Small percentage. 1200 a day from smoking. There are similarities between Vietnam and Iraq. What should we let happen? Bring soldiers and war home?

against the Iraq conflict yet considering all of us started it we would desire to end it. of direction there is the possibility that with Saddam in ability we would have finally had to bypass to conflict faster or later. Who is responsive to? I merely think of the money would have been greater advantageous spent interior the united states of america on family members ability progression. strategies you, i'm not some fool who's blindly anti-conflict or anti-protection rigidity. until every physique interior the international ceases to be aggressive there'll continually be a choose for a protection rigidity. as long as international locations compete for land and aspects there will be conflict. people who marketing campaign to end all wars or do away with the protection rigidity stay in a dreamworld.

People try to equate the 2. I disagree. No but Charlie Rangle is back at it, stating he wants a draft. Well put it up to a vote then!
