My husband and I are having the hardest time deciding on a baby name. The lastest name (for a girl) we like is "Dhallie", or "Dallie". We were thinking of making it short for Dhalia, but I think it's cute all by itself. So, what do you think? Do you like it, or is it just too different? Thanks for the help... I've been thinking about names for so long that I don't know if I like anything anymore!

I like Dhalia. At first I thought the Dallie sounded good, then I thought of Dolly. As in my favourite dolly. :( I would reccommend that you go with Dhalia, and not give her the actual shortened form. This way she can have a respectable name when she is older and a lawyer *wink*, and you can still call her by the nic.

Well although there is nothing wrong with inventing new names, you have to think of what others are going to do with the name. The first thing that comes to mind is dhalia, which is were this name originates. It has potential to be a cute name, but it does sound Indian-ish. Hope this helps?

DHALLIE seems very unique. i like it...but i just think she might get teased eventually. especially because it's pronounce "dolly". if you can get past that, i think it's an awesome name choice. congrats.

Actually, I think it is cute all by itself. It's a name you don't hear very often. Plus it doesn't sound too freakishly made up. lol

I wouldn't call your child Dallie. Everyone will call her dilly-dally.

Whatever you decide - Congratulations :-)
