A dog's sense of taste is less sensitive than a human's sense of taste.

It is least developed sense. The amount and variety of taste buds that cover the dogs tongue are far less than humans, which is why it barely savors the mild tastes.

Dogs only recognize pleasant, neutral or unpleasant tastes. Food attraction is utterly dependent on the smell. This is why dog food manufactures focus so much on making them with a strong smell. Dogs don't know how to taste food; we know they like the food more because they wolf it down faster than something they don't

Generally, dogs don't like humans, and won't eat them. There are however plenty of exceptions to that general rule.

Humans have taste buds but usually don't like dogs. However, there are some countries where dogs are considered normal food for humans.

Dogs, as a general rule, are better off residing in countries where human taste buds reject them.

Yes, dogs and cats both have taste buds. Dogs and cats can be very picky on the type of food they will eat. Some dogs will only eat a certain type of food, and not another type. Some cats will eat certain can food flavors, but no others. If they didn't have taste buds, then it wouldn't matter what type of food they eat. Why would they bother to make many flavors for dogs and cat foods. Dogs also love scrap foods because they taste better. My moms dog will eat just about any scrap food, but not carrots.

Yes, but contrary to prior posters dogs most likely have a better sense of taste than human. Taste is 95% smell. Not taste buds on the tongue. Think back to your last really bad cold. Remember how things all tasted funny/dull. Yet you could still taste the sweet, sour, and salty things. That's almost all taste buds can taste. (Well also bitter, and umami/savory.) The rest is smell.

No, they probably don't. I think dogs have more taste buds. Because when I tried feeding my dogs a different brand of food, they wouldn't eat it and I had to go upstate to buy their old brand of food.

yup. That's why they put flavor in dog food and that's why dogs don't like certain things.
