They were definitely a Nationwide thing (I'm from Wisconsin), but more for people who were in elementary school in the 70's....

I remember that they were the "in" thing back in elementary school and I used to love them and collect them. It's been so long though, and I don't don't remeber any specific favorites. They were really popular back in Marlow Heights, MD where I went to elementary school but I didn't see them much once we moved to the west coast.
