My wife had tried any shampoo, cream, and ointment possible. She even took up yoga to relieve stress. It's all over her body, head, and is even getting in her face. Personally, I don't really mind how she looks, but I hate to see her suffer with it.

Treatment Of Psoriasis

Psoriasis has no cure. Whenever you get episodes of psoriasis, you can be treated to clear the same. After that it may recur in weeks or years. No one can predict that. Your doctor may choose any of the following treatments.

Topical Steroids:
Steroids are one of the common medications for psoriasis. Strong steroids should not be used for a long period. Your doctor will tell you about the applications. Psoriasis patients prefer steroids because they are much cleaner to apply than messy coal tar applications. For severe cases of psoriasis, coal tar applications have to be used. Steroids, though much cleaner in use and highly effective, cannot be used for long. They thin the skin and lose their effect if used for long. Steroids are not a medication that can be used for long time without worrying about the consequences.

Coal Tar Applications:
In this application, refined coal tar is used in different forms. You get creams, gels, sticks and ointments. Your doctor will decide if you need to use coal tar applications. One has to take care while using coal tar applications before going out in the sun as they can cause sunburns.

Anthralin Or Dithranol:
This is an effective medication for psoriasis. It may be sometimes very irritating. Using it on body folds or face is not advised. Similarly, fair skinned people should not use it. Your doctor will guide you about the use.

Vitamin D Analogues:
The recent additions are Vitamin D analogues, which are used topically. They are not recommended to treat patches on face. These compounds may cause some irritation in the beginning but that clears after some time.

UV Treatment:
Psoriasis responds to UV treatment very satisfactorily. You may be treated with UVA, UVB or PUVA. They are all different ways of getting exposed to UV radiation. This cannot be done at home and you will have to go to a facility to get this done. Your doctor will guide you about the treatment and other aspects.

Sun:
The sun is also good for psoriasis treatment. But you should first talk to the doctor about the total time of exposure in the sun otherwise damaging sunrays may create other complications.

Oral Medications:
There are many oral medications for psoriasis. They are used only after the failure of topicals. Oral medications can cause many side-effects such as liver and kidney functions and some are potent immuno-suppressants. Your doctor will closely monitor you while giving you these medications.

Rest & Relaxation:
Psoriasis has some relation with stress. If you rest and be stress-free, psoriasis responds well.

Care:
Similarly, you must use enough moisturizers or emollient creams to keep the plaques soft, and stop development of very dry skin and more itching.

I was diagnosed with psoriasis at age 14 and now I am 36 years old. You can say that I have tried just about every medicine both approved by FDA and trial without much success. Examples include Enbrel, Humira, oral meds, creams, oils, salts, coal tar, etc and the list is much more extensive that I can't even remember all of the names. But recently after someone shared this video https://tr.im/TreatmentspsoriasisXnxP everything has changed. My psoriasis completely cleared by putting these changes in place. I only wish I'd taken photos of before and after because it truly has been miraculous. I am getting married in Oct, 2015 and I am wearing a strapless gown that also shows my back and I am confident (not like before) that my skin will be soft and pretty vs red and flakey.

I have a problem like this on my right hand, and it is extrememly embarassing for me. About a month ago I discovered Emu Oil (as in the bird) and I began applying it to my hand with Tea Tree Oil as well. The emu oil (make sure that it is pure and refined) contains many fatty acids that your skin is lacking. It is odor-free and a little goes a long way. I apply the tea tree oil first because it has the ability to penetrate skin deeper than any lotion, so if you use it with a lotion, it acts almost as a transporter for it (in addition to being very soothing).
I cannot express what a relief it is to finally find something that works. I was using topical medications for a long time that were destroying my skin, it became thin and cracked. I never thought I my hand would look normal again, and now, it looks almost as healthy as my other hand. I highly, HIGHLY reccommend this combination, it's best to apply it after every shower, and before sleep. Both the emu oil and the tea tree oil can be found at www.vitaminshoppe.com and won't break your budget. A 4oz bottle of emu oil will run you about $20 and will last you a long time, and don't expect to pay more than $10 for the tea tree oil. I'm happy to offer this advice because I'm so pleased with my results. Good luck!!!

i to have psoriasis and have tried everything then one day my mom told me to try some green stuff she uses on her horses to treat wounds to prevent bacteria and it works. its not a cure but made redness and flakes go away for a while like 2-3 months depending on person. and every time it comes back just apply it and goes a way again. i just cant remember what that stuff is called. you can go to vets office and tell them you need some green stuff to treat bacteria infection on a horse and they will know what it is. this stuff is strong thats why it works. sounds weird but sometimes the weird stuff works. by the way the stuff is a cream similar to vasulene not a liquid. just so you know
hope this helps
