No, OCD is when you have to either stay clean or knock three times before opening a door. Here's an OCD website.

I think what you have is normal. I think it is actually the jitters. My husband chews on everything! It's okay, not good for your teeth, but normal.

No this is not normal. You can have PICA which is basically craving something unusual like dirt, pebbles, or plastics as in your case. This usually indicates some nutrients are missing from your diet. It could also be an oral fixation with obsessive components. Best thing to do is to have a doctor examine you and do some blood work to start. Some of those things you eat could cause serious damage to your intestines, stomach and cause constipation. You could end up with a bowel blockage if you continue to eat strange things. Try to avoid putting things in your mouth by chewing gum or sucking on hard candy until you see a doc

Well it could be, but i really do not think it is, nor do i think it is normal behavior to be doing these things. The best way to find out is to go and talk to a doctor, or even better go and see a therapist, and let them check it out. I can not tell you if this is ocd, i have not seen you , or spoken to you. chewing on paper really isn't all that bad, or cardboard, they say it adds fiber, cause a lot of small childern do that too. now chewing on plastic, well a lot of people do that , just to have something to chew on, so i don't really think that it is that adnormal neither, but i really don't see it as being ocd, but if you want to find out for sure then go to a professional and let them check it out.

Your behaviours sound like they started with anxiety and then became habitual.... they do sound compulsive (driven) if you are popping every little plastic article you come across into your mouth. Chewing on plastic releases toxins that are not healthy for you, and chewing on paper is definitely not healthy-- because of the chemicals that are used to make the paper. The question is, do you want to deal with this -- is it a problem for you-- because if you are interested in eliminating these habits, the best way I know how is with an energy therapy called "Emotional Freedom Technique." It is easy to learn and easy to apply. Just go here >http://tinyurl.com/yh5zhu to download the free manual.

All the best!

Dogg is rude.
Yes, it does sound like a form of OCD. I use to count everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! And I would sit in doctor's offices and count the little holes in the roof tiles. I refused to move from my chair until the panel I was on was completely counted.
Used to drive the docs nutz! LOL

Get some medication such as clonazepam and it will probably curb the urges.

no ocd is an obsession. well ya know maybe it can be cuz you tend to do it alot. ocd does not necessarily mean you knock three times or wash your hands 2x. it is an obsessive compulsive disorder. you just obsessivly and compulsivly do things. you can search it up on yahoo look for dictionary type in ocd.

could also mean tht when you were an infant your mother didnt give you enough to eat and now you always have to have something in your mouth. i was told that wheni was 11. cuz i always had pens in my mouth.

ocd is when an obsession (usually a superstition or belief) creates a repetitive behavior that is disruptive to your activities of daily living. most commonly they are checking, washing, counting, and hoarding (keeping lots of stupid junk). usually craving non food objects is a symptom of mineral deficiency and that usually occurs in pregnancy.
