My 3.5 year old son wants to do everything in 4's. like brush his teeth 4 times, eat 4 cookies, he wants to buy 4 turtles(where getting 2 this spring) ect. Is this a sign that he's becoming obsessive compulsive? Or is it just a 3 year old phase? BTW he can count to 20 so thats not it. Maybe 4 is his favorite number? He is a very bright kid, he knows he'll be 4 on his next birhtday, so maybe thats it?

Not OCD, just being a 3.5 year old. My son tell everyone he's 4 and he's got a few months to go. Mine also says "1,2,3" so many times a day he sounds like Rain Man! Turns out he's just letting us know he understands that we go 1,2,3 then time out. It'll pass and he'll move onto something else that wrecks your nerves.

P.S. turtles have salmonella (like raw chicken) so be careful, they can make little ones very sick.

Relax , he sounds just real excited about turning 4 & how important 4 will be for him.sometimes you have to make a game out of things for kids, like i bet i can brush my teeth for 2 minutes , can you? OCD would be more involved then what you are explaining. If you are not sure & you think these are warning signs than Bravo to you for being so in tuned with you'r son.Your a great mom for being concerned.

Nah, just a phase. He's way to young to be obsessive compulsive. I had a thing for 9s when I was 2.

Then again, now I have some kind of weird "thing" in which it's hard for me to lie...

Oh well, if you really are worried, ask a doctor, but I don't think it's anything.

I think you should make him stop doing the four thing for a while and if he doesnt then i think he has it. But i would make him stop but dont tell him anything about it. Its better to be safe than sorry. I would break him out of it just in case.

it is too early to tell. Talk with his pediatrician and see if he has any more info. Probably because he is turning four
