Does God forgive if you keep doing the same bad thing over and over again??

I love my Lord and Savior. I preach about Him all the time because He has done amazing things for me, and amazing things through me. But I have addictions. Two that I am very embarassed and ashamed about, which is why here is the only place I'm talking about them.
First one, I have bipolar depression - get realy sad and I cut.
Second, mastrbation. Both shameful... which leads back to my question..

Does God forgive even if you keep doing the same bad thing over again?

I was always taught that when you keep doing the same sin over and over again that it is like torturing Jesus over and over again. Don't know if I believe it or not. I'm sure he would understand and all with the Bipolar.

Personal shame seems to be blocking you. It is misplaced.

I guess if you really believe you have committed a sin, perhaps you have, because it is not just the act, but the intention.

I really cannot imagine why you would consider bipolar depression, (and even by extension, the self-cutting) a sin! Where is the intention???

Some people do believe masturbation is wrong, others do not. If you think it is, you need to continue to pray and trust God enough for possibly more wonderful things. But remember, goodness and holiness are all about struggle.

Yes,
Some passage says, that when a disciple asked Jesus how many times he should forgive someone, Jesus replied 7x7x or basically what amounts to infinetly. So yes, I would think you always have a chance to start over.

Secondly,
BiPolar is a medical condition and therefore you don't have any control over it. Only medicine can really help with that.
Also, since when is masturbation a sin? It's not sinful or shameful.

You can't live life thinking everything including things beyond your control are a sin. Just take it day by day.

I am also Bipolar, and have felt many of the same things you have. Jesus understands your condition. I don't believe he would hold your cutting yourself as a sin. He knows why you do it, and has sympathy for it. Jesus said that we are to forgive"seventy times seven," any sin commited against us by our brother man. I believe he'll do the same for you. Remember, "God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him"(John3:17). Seek help, from both God and man, and ask God to help you avoid the sins that easily get to you. You will be forgiven as long as there is true remorse in your heart. God will never give up on you.

Bipolar depression is a medical condition. You need to get the help of a doctor. That's not a sin. As far as masturbation is concerned, if you intentionally continue to do it even after asking forgiveness from it, you aren't truly seeking forgiveness for it. However, if you ask for forgiveness and make an honest effort to stop it, you will be forgiven for it every time. We are all human and will make mistakes, and God knows this but, He expects us to try our best to not continue in sinning.

Ask God to forgive you and you will be forgiven. It doesn't sound like you're Catholic or Orthodox, but believe it or not actually confessing your sins is an amazing experience (and no one confesses to a priest, he just happens to be there to say prayers, you confess to God). Here's the point. I go to confession and the priest promts me to start. Almost every time I have to confess to the sin of anger ... mostly cursing at bad drivers, but I digress ... EVERY TIME. Remember the prodigal son? God loves all His children and wants every one of them to come to Him. God forgives you EVERY TIME you confess to doing something wrong. You have to try to get help and to stop the sinning, but we're human. God knows that; He created us.
But be careful. The tone of your question could indicate that you have come here looking for acceptance rather than help. If your real motives are to hear "masturbation isn't wrong" or "cutting yourself is just a psychological thing -- get some drugs" maybe you are letting the Devil creep in. Be ever vigilant.

.
He still love you! Just not the sin.
Dear cutting is very serious I would hope you would go and get help for this medications might help with the depression. My DIL is Bipolar takes meds every day and you just treat it like you would Diabetes Your body is sick and you need help.
You even if you feel better should always take your meds to keep you at normal levels to help with the sadness its not a deftest attitude because you have to take meds for depression No big deal about the meds.
If you can deal better with meds and God's help the other (sins )could probably reslove themselve and you wouldn't care to do them. Thus you would be forsaking them.
Hugs honey Diane

I'll answer your second question first by directing you to this web site that investigates the claim by some religious people that masturbation is a sin.

http://layhands.com/IsMasturbationASin.htm

As to your first question:

Hebrews 10:12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, (13) waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. (14) For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

Jesus paid for all of our sins, past, present and future. That doesn't mean that someone can go on living in rebellion against God's will and not suffer any consequences. There is always an earthly consequence to sin. But it sounds to me like you have been deceived about what constitutes sin and the Devil is using that to discourage you and to get you to harm yourself by cutting.

Cutting is a way that some people take their mind off things that are troubling them, especially things about them self, and the pain and the sense that they are punishing themselves for bad behavior give a temporary sense of relief. Like all earthly solutions to problems it doesn't really work. Other people turn to drugs and alcohol for the same reasons. What a person needs to do is to know the love of God through Christ Jesus and learn to walk in Biblical truth and be guided and comforted by the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, (39) nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I pray that God will send someone your way to help you to learn how to make these truths a part of your daily life, in Jesus' name, amen!

Sure He does, but you need to get victory over those things, and God is able to do that. Jesus came to save us from our sins, but the problem most people have is that they are trying to save themselves from their own sins. It can't be done. The reason Christians don't get victory over their sins is because they live with one foot in the world and the other in their Christianity. There are two scriptures that deal with this issue and should be looked into I John 1 But study the whole chapter, don't start with the 9th verse, by that point you have already missed the solution. Also Romans 8 (Actually 6-8) Read these chapters carefully and prayerfully and ask God to give you wisdom and understanding. Email me if I can be of any help in understanding these passages.

Bipolar depression is something that you need medical treatment for and could very easily explain the cutting and masturbation. From what I understand the senses are greatly under/over sensitive during depressed and manic stages of the illness. I would speak to my medical professional and continue giving it over to the Lord in prayer. He loves you Honey, never doubt that.

God Bless you.
