Stay away from Silver RavenWolf, at least until you have enough knowledge to separate her good stuff from her crap.

I'd stay away from most of Llewellyn's stuff.

I like, from them, The Inner Temple of Witchcraft [Christopher Penckzac.], and the Green Witchcraft Series [Ann Moura.]

For older stuff, try The Spiral Dance [Star Hawk] and Wicca: A Guide for The Solitary Practitioner. [Scott Cunningham].

Pretty much anything from Silver Ravenwolf is good; she has introductory books for teenagers and adults alike, writes in an easy, friendly, comprehensible style, and makes Wicca very approachable, rather than 'shrouded in mystery'. Her books are great for introductions.

I also like "Spinning Spells, Weaving Wonders"- it's one of the only 'spellcraft' books I'll use (I make my others on my own). I find it indespensible, user-friendly, and innovative.

Start there, and then browse around. There are a lot of good books out there, and some cruddy ones.

I would recommend the "Celebrating the Seasons of Life" books by Ashleen O'Gaea. She provides a really concise, but full picture of Wicca as a totality of religion (as opposed to just Wicca as piecemeal mythology thrown in to provide background for love spells). Her books are a little hard to come by, but you can always order them from amazon here:

All the best,

This is gonna sound crazy but "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft" by Denise Zimmermann and Katherine Gleason is actually very helpful for the beginner who knows nothing about it.

Peace
