dogs are expensive. are you financially able to take it to the vet for all it's puppy shots, spay/neuter it, pay for any illnesses it may havd. can you pay for dog food, will the breed need grooming. can you affort all the accessories that are needed with the new dog. do you have time to exercise it, play with it. bring it to puppy or obedience school. do you have time to socialize it. will you be pateint with it when it soils the house or chews up a favorite belonging.

DONT THINK THAT IM TRYING TO SOUND MEAN BUT MAYBE YOUR MOM KNOWS WHAT SHES TALKING ABOUT. ASK HER WHY SHE THINKS THAT YOU SHOULDNT HAVE A DOG. I BET YOU HER ANSWER WOULD BE THAT SHE DOESNT THINK THAT YOU ARE RESPONIBLE ENOUGH. WHY DONT YOU TRY ANOTHER "PET" FIRST LIKE A PLANT. I KNOW THAT IT SOUNDS CRAZY BUT TRY IT. IM 21 YEARS OLD AND I HAD A PLANT FOR 3 YEARS BEFORE I EVER GOT A PUPPY. IF YOU CAN MAKE THAT PLANT LIVE THEN YOU'LL DO OK WITH A PUP. ITS A TON OF RESPONIBLITY. YOU GOT TO TRAIN, POTTY TRAIN, CRATE TRAIN, WHAT IF THE PUP GETS SICK?, SHOTS, WALKS, BEING FIXED, DOG FOOD, MEDICINE, COLLARS, NAME TAGS, LEASHES, BRUSHES ETC. CAN YOU AFFORD ALL THIS STUFF BY YOURSELF WITH NO HELP? IT LIKE HAVING A BABY (WHICH I THINK THAT ANYONE THINKING OF HAVING A CHILD SHOULD GET A DOG FIRST JUST TO UNDERSTAND WHAT "RAISING" A CHILD (OR ANOTHER CREATURE) IS ABOUT. DONT RULE HER OUT AS BEING MEAN. IM SURE THERE IS A GOOD REASON FOR HER DECISION. SHE MAY FEEL THAT THE "FAMILY" CANT AFFORD TO HAVE A PET AT THIS TIME. WAIT AND TRY AGAIN LATER.

Tell her the first few months will be rough with the potty training and if you get a crate you can potty train fairly quickly. Also ask for a small dog so she will remember how little it eats and how little mess it will make. You can let her know that after a few months that you and her will wonder what you both did before the dog. they really are lifetime pals. Also female dogs are easier to train than boys.

You really can't change your mom's mind. But you could see if you could take care of a friend's dog and show your mom that you are a responsible person. Then your mom might take getting a dog into consideration. And if you get a dog..... Dont get a fox terrier. They are extremely hyper !!! I have a fox terrier and it barks at everything that moves and she always is moving.

I dont know how you can convince your mom.. try doing good in school or doing nice things that you usually dont do and then try asking her in a kind way :P

If you pay for everything with all it's shots, all it's food, and everything else that goes along with it. Also, tell her you'll enroll in a training class and you'll pay for that too. Look on the Internet and read books about all that goes into raising a dog so you can see if you're really ready for it. The more responsible you are about it, the better.

Take care of yourself so someday you can have your own house with your own pets. and if your mom would like to come and live with you and asks you if she can have a 3 headed donkey you can say " sure mom" I don't want to be like you....... Just kidding I know what you are saying, and You will have your dog someday just not now. I am grown now and have 4 dogs and my own home. You don't have to like her answer but you should respect it. And there is not a magic line to say to your mom to make her say yes.. sorry!
