The answers above are why this site is worthless: people are just guessing. The answer is NOT 3 months, and drugs are NOT bad for you. As one person correctly stated, it depends on marijuana potency, body fat, and metabolism. Assuming it's a piss test, allow one whole month without smoking to be safe. You might be fine after just a week or two, but after 30 days you can be certain. If it's a hair test, it can be detected for much, much longer.
Drug screens do not check for THC in your system. They check for the things THC is metabolized into, which stick around long after all the THC is gone. Furthermore, they do not just check to see if those chemicals are there; they check to see if they are there AT A CERTAIN CONCENTRATION OR ABOVE. So, even if you do nothing and smoke right up until the day before your screen, you can do things like 1) take the test in the afternoon, and 2) drink loads and loads of water, so your piss is diluted as much as possible. Testers know that smokers know this, so there is such a thing as a false-negative due to dilute urine. Likewise, the super-expensive drinks advertised in an answer above do indeed mask the urine, but can also result in a false-negative, unless you inform the testers that you are trying to gain weight and are drinking a creatine shake twice a day.

it takes any where from 2 to 30 days to clear your system depending on frequency of use and body fat precentage. if you are of an average weight for your height, you should be ok in about a weeks time.

who knows...ive never been able to figure it out.....i smoked 2 days before a test and had been smoking regular for awhile and still passed it.....guess it just depends on the person...good luck!
