A trial of a live virus, nasal spray vaccine for bird flu is scheduled to take
place in April, 2006. This experimental vaccine trial is extremely risky and

According to other health experts, it is both unnecessary and impossible to
make a vaccine against bird flu since the virus has not yet mutated into a
human-to-human transmissible form. Additionally, it is like playing with fire
to develop and administer this type of vaccine:

purposely inserted genes from human influenza into bird flu virus to create
what is thought to be the likely outcome of bird flu mutating to a human-to-
human virus, then attenuated it to be a vaccine virus. It is psychopathic

There is no true bird flu vaccine. This is because a vaccine can only be developped and produced after the clear nature of the virus causing a pandemic has been established. For the moment, there are drugs such as Tamiflu which are believed (and have sometimes proved) to be efficient in treating bird flu infections in humans.

It's important to follow the news and be aware of the virus' evolution. There are websites such as http://www.bird-flu-center.com that offer regular updates on the situation worldwide, as well as information about how to deal with the disease.

Some people got paralyzed from the vaccine in my city. People are not sure about it, because it hasn't been fully tested. It was made really quick to secure people from it. A lot of people don't want to take it. But I also know people who did take it and they are just fine.

There is no vaccine for the bird flu. Because of the way it mutates, they are not even sure if Tamiflu--which is the preferred antibiotic for it--will even work. So far it has not been found in the USA.

Im happy to say that I have had a vaccine for an H7 avian influenza as part of a clinical trial, and I am perfectly fine. "Vaccines will make it spead faster" Wrong. Live vacines CAN make you sick, but influenza vacines aren't live.
