I got a speeding ticket going 20 over in a school zone. I got a $160 fine, so i pled not guilty and have a court date in 2 weeks. When do they tell me how many points i get, and if i plead that i will pay the fine and ask them to lower the number of points, do you think they will?

Yeah i realize i'm stupid for speeding...

Well, when you go to court, you could have the charge reduced. However, considering it was a school zone, that is doubtful. since you have a court date, the officer who gave you the ticket may not show up. In that event, the case is dismissed. No fine and no points. However, a speeding ticket in Ohio is generally two points.

Speeding in a school zone is double the fine and penalties. Probably 4 points in NJ. Work zones and school zones are doubled.

If offered you could accept a plea bargain, in NJ that is unsafe driving and it costs you like $400 in fines but no points, not sure if they offer it in a school zone though.

hard to beat a speeding charge. i believe in most states it is 2 points. they notify you after conviction and your insurance rates will be the worst thing. no, they won't drop the points.
