Just a story to share: In a Southeast Asian legend, Cat tricked the obedient but stronger Dog into performing tasks (like stealing food) which benefitted only Cat. When Dog finally realised he had been tricked, he wanted to kill Cat for he would never do anything against Man. Cat scuttled up a tree and licked herself to mock Dog (and henceforth all cats can climb trees and preen in similar situations). Man was furious that Dog had stolen food from ths kitchen and tied Dog to a post (where dogs have henceforth been held captive). Dog swore an oath that he would not rest until he had his revenge. Until today all of Dog's children run after Cat's children for the debt unpaid. All Cat's children bury their feaces and urine so Dog's children cannot find them. Dogs bark at Cats because until today Cat is free to roam in and out of the house since she alone keeps her secret while Dogs have had to work to earn a place beside Man again..

There is mis-communication between dog language and cat language. One example is if one dog paws at the face of another dog it's to initiate play. If cats do this it threatening and leads to fighting. A dog may try to initiate play with a cat and the cat perceives this as a threat which leads to hissing and smacking. Cats rub against for affection, in dogs that's a dominance behavior and can lead to growling and snarling.

Usually when dogs and cats spend more time together they learn to communicate as long as there is some intervention from a responsible "pack leader" pet owner.

We share our home with dogs and cats and it's not always a harmonious environment. The cats don't always communicate well with each other or the dogs. They've learned to live within the rules and boundaries we've set for them.

i believe that people think cats and dogs are enemies because dogs
chase after cats and cats get made abut that. What i think is that a dog just wants to play but he plays to rough for the fragile feline and that gets here made and runs away with the dog right on here tail thus in the cycle again.

Not sure... some cats and dogs are enemies and others aren't.
My pitbull and cat get along great. But my bloodhound and cat don't... well, the cat doesn't like the bloodhound. The bloodhound would do anything to be friends w/the cat.
My cat and pitbull will lay together, sleep together, etc. They weren't brought up together either. They just respect each other.

in the wild they are. A large wild dog would see a cat as prey. However in a domestic setting, if they are brought up together dogs and cats can be great friends and companions for each other.

One million years ago claws were the enemy and Dogs learned very quick that claws were no good to defeat and their packs were destroyed.

When civilization began to emerge the Dog from instinct would always remember the claw and to this day it remains as such.

Cats are smaller and apparently appear to be delicious little furballs to dogs, the natural hunters. Unfortunately, cats don't like to be eaten and use their razor-sharp claws in defense.
