He is waaaayyyy over weight. He needs to lose some weight.
Just not rapidly.
Try loseing........half a pound to a pound a week.
This way, he wont end up like those people who work at it for 2 weeks and fail.

LoL - "pretty much all fat"? That's nice.

It's impossible to tell just from those stats if he is too fat. Alot of athletes are that height and weight and would come on the obesity charts but have large frames and/or alot of muscle, so the straight up BMI measurements can be misleading. My dad is 220 and 5'10" and he is not overweight at all, that is just how he's built.

Why are you trying to find out if he weighs too much? Are you going to be his lifecoach or something? And he's fat "but he is a nice guy"? LoL You say that as if it is surprising or something. As in "well sure, he's fat, but at least he's got something going for him" Well anyway, your question just sounds a little insensitive but maybe that's not how you intended it.

That's pretty heavy for that height. If he's really muscular, then there's probably no issue. But you do say "he is pretty much all fat." He should probably try to lose 50-65 pounds.

Average for that height is about 160 lbs. Better cut down on the sweets and hit the weightroom.

He is overweight and should cut back on his portions of food, such as not going for seconds, if he does that. Exercise, drink plently of water, & eat three healthy meals a day. This should get him into shape. and make him drop some pounds =]

At 215lbs, and 5'9'' his BMI would be 31.7.

A healthy BMI for someone to have is between 18.5-24.9 (Which would be between 126lbs and 169lbs for his height.)

A BMI over 30, is classified as obese, which means he should be talking to his doctor, to find the best methods for him to get into a healthy weight range. Best of luck!

Your buddy is definitely overweight, but so what, does that make him bad? It is in the eyes of the beholder. Being overweight is not healthy, as it leads to serious diseases.

ummmm....yeah my boyfriend is 6'3" and he doesn't weigh 215. chances are he knows he's over weight and doesn't need you rubbing it in his face. he's not going to lose weight until he accepts his circumstances, and will only get angry with you for mentioning the issue.
