you said you are an atheist, then you might have known that religious text books can not give a satisfactory reply for all the questions rationalists ask.positive atheists give preference to moral values and strive for the better ment of the marginalized sections of the society in which they live.

I like your previous comment, Heaven for climate, Hell for company. However, it reflects a misinterpretation. Scripture tells us that there will be two resurrections. Those people judged righteous will be resurrected in the first, and go to Heaven for 1000 years to 'review the books' then they will return to an earth made new. At about the time they are returning, those judged to be evil will be resurrected. The evil ones will then try to make war against the city (which is returning to earth with the righteous) and then fire will come down to earth and destroy those sinners (for a second death) very thoroughly, and then the earth will be made new (made over) a second time, and everything will be very good, as it was before, and sin and sinners will be no more. Just before sinners are destroyed they acknowledge that the Almighty is just, but they march on the city anyway. Why do sinners have to be resurrected to die again? Perhaps to prove beyond all doubt that the Almighty was correct in judging them to be wicked, and beyond hope of salvation. (and they demonstrate the truth of His judgment by trying to attack the righteous people.) In the end, everyone will be absolutly convinced that the way of the Almighty is best, even though now it seems a bit odd. No we don't enjoy the idea that sinners will be resurrected just so they can die again. It somehow seems like more punishing than needed. (And we understand YHVH to be a merciful Almighty one) However, that is how He told us He was going to do it, so we accept that for reasons we will understand better later, that is the best way.

A lot of Christians are confused on what Hell actually is. In the Bible it describes Hell as an eternal burning. But, it is compared to the burning of Soddom and Gommorah. These places are not still there burning, but they were burned and became no more. Hell is not a place where people just suffer for eternity while people in heaven laugh at them. They are thrown into the lake of fire and are no more. Dont feel God is having fun doing this, He hates when He has to punish his creations, but it must be done. That is why he is giving us so much time to repent. There is no biblical reference of the way people describe Hell. But don't worry about Hell, because you can accept Jesus into your life and have the gift of eternal life. It does not matter whether or not Christians enjoy the idea because it is Gods choice not theres. But I would say the real Christians do not enjoy this if they share the same love as God.

I am a Christian who believes this idea, but I wouldn't say any Christian "enjoys" this idea. (Do you "enjoy" when someone goes to jail for wrongdoing? Not really, but you feel that the consequence was 'just', if you had to answer, right?)
This is nothing Christians decided... it is God's will, and we believe it because it's in the Bible that unless you go out of your way to commit your life to Christ, you can't go to Heaven. God calls us all to be His followers, but only some choose to actually follow Him seriously. That's the difference. According to the Bible, we must be "born again" to go to Heaven... to believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and that He rose again.
God doesn't just "kill off" sinners because He's not a God of revenge. Even those sinners have a plan for their lives, and if those sinners come to Christ in the end, God is so very pleased. Sinners are also a test of faith to believers, because they make it hard for the believers to live an easy, Godly life. Faith is nothing without a test, and to have sin all around us is a way for us to test how far we will go to avoid sin to please the Lord.
So to make a long story short, a dictator who has killed thousands and an athiest who "lived a generally good life" will both go to Hell, according to the Bible, because if there is only Heaven and Hell, and they didn't do what they were required to do to go to Heaven, there's no place else for them but Hell.
I hope that makes sense. I don't consider myself a "crazy Christian" or whatever, I'm actually a very normal working woman in her 20's... but that's what I believe to be true. Hope that helps a little! :)

I hate the thought of anyone suffering, but in the end, it's not for Christians to decide what is just. How can we as humans be totally fair?
Steal something here and get your hand slapped. Steal something in another country and get your hand chopped off. Which is more fair?
Is hell justice for those who don't accept God's free gift of salvation? Not for me to decide. The better question is why be stubborn and refuse to believe that there is a God who loves you and has already made the sacrifice for you so you don't have to spend eternity in hell? Just trust the God you currently don't believe in.
In the end if you're right and I'm wrong, what have you lost? I can't think of a damn thing. Now what if I'm right and you're wrong? Eternity is a long time.

Do you know that it was an Atheist who murdered more of his own people than any other person in history? Ask MaoTseTung if he enjoyed killing all those people. You can't though, he knows the truth now.
We are all sinners. Some are saved by faith in God's work at the cross.

I think I am in the minority among those who answered this, but truth is not established by vote. Every one of us is a sinner and deserving of God's justice. If you view "sinners" only as those whose life is filled with heinous crimes, then I would see your reason for asking. That is not the Bible's view of sinners, however.
I am a Christian. Do I enjoy the fact that some are going to hell? No. Do I enjoy the fact that God does offer eternal life in heaven? Yes, it is the core of my existence and the source of my joy in this life. The fact that some are going to hell unless they ask Jesus to be their Savior is the reason we Christians need to witness actively.

I want to be very careful about how I answer this, because this may be difficult for you to understand, and because you do not believe in GOD. Hell is justice, in that It is punishment for sins. You see, according to the Bible, NO man can get to heaven on his own merits-- not by being good, or by helping others, or even going to Church. In other words, you cannot get to heaven through 'good works'. You see, the only way to heaven is by accepting Jesus Christ as you personal "saviour". There are many verses in the Bible that say this, in different ways. For instance, one verse says "Whoever haveth the son of man (jesus ) hath eternal life. Whoever haveth NOT the son of man does NOT have eternal life, and the wrath of GOD abideth on him". That 'wrath' is judgement. Another verse, quoted by Jesus himself, says "For I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. NO ONE comes before the Father but through me". You see, Without Jesus as your Savioiur, the penalty is death. Now, this might sound like a dictatorship, or something like it, but it isn't. Could you imagine what Heaven would be like with people like HItler, Napoleon Bonapart, or other mass murderers and the like being there? It would be the same as living on earth. What then, would be the purpose of judgement for sinners, if ANYONE could go to heaven? GOD wants us to have fellowship with him and to live a life of Joy and peace, and that can only be achieved with Jesus in our lives. The life after this one is truly AWESOME. The Bible describes it having "the peace that passes ALL understanding". It is full of pure unrestrained JOY.
I hope this has been of some help. The only other thing I can say is to ask you to seek out Christians, and ask questions. And, go to Church. It may take some time, but just GO-- and LISTEN. After awhile, you will find answers, and they will make PERFECT sense. But go with an OPEN mind-- and an open HEART!!!

i'm now an atheist yet i replaced right into a Christian for 15 years. I factor out this so that you're going to carry close that i'm completely attentive to the bits and bobs of the Christian doctrine and that i'm not ignorant. Many atheists fall into this classification, by technique of how. i ought to go as far as to assert that maximum do. in reality, ex-Christian, or not, maximum atheists recognize the bible a lot extra ideal than maximum Christians do. That stated, my suggestion to you is do not enable it problem you. interior the 15 years that i replaced right into a Christian I by no skill, not once witnessed something supernatural. No miracles, no therapeutic, no words from god, nuthin'! And neither have you ever. the starting up of the right replaced into at the same time as, quicker or later, I study 1Pet3:15 & realised that i ought to not provide a reason as to why i theory as that verse exhorts Christians to do. That were given me questioning. the position replaced into my data that any type of supernatural or non secular international existed, now to not indicate the certain god of the bible? It took me a at the same time as, and a hell of a large number of searching, searching, questioning & reading yet interior the right I got here to the right that there replaced into none. It replaced right into a short vacation from there to atheism. So, until eventually you are able to provide us some reason to believe that a non secular realm exists in any respect, i should be extra frightened about your self than about atheists. per chance you should study 1Pet3:15 too & imagine about what answer you should provide if requested to justify your faith.

The concept of eternal punishment is an immoral concept.
Justice is a moral concept. Only a person who values rationality and logic can be objectively moral. An ethical code based on faith can only be arbitrary, because it depends on some form of authority such as God, society, convention, or what pleases someone.
Morality can only be achieved through reason. A moral judge, for example, would not condemn someone because God tells him he is guilty, or because the majority of people say he is guilty, nor because he feels that the person is guilty. He would make sure that the evidence of the facts supports his decision. That can only be achieved though logic and rationality, and this is what we mean by justice. Faith is useless for acquiring morality.
